Lord of the gods, wherever this Dharani is well taught, especially writing the letters, holding, reading, reciting, making recitations, offering, fully understanding, listening, and holding, in that place all beings will become pure, and all sentient beings in hell will be cut off. Lord of the gods, this Dharani should be written into letters and placed on the top of a victory banner, or a high mountain, or a high building, or placed on the life-pillar of a stupa. Lord of the gods, a Bhikshu, or a Bhikshuni, or a male lay practitioner, or a female lay practitioner, or any son of a family other than these, or a daughter of a family, if they see what is placed on the top of the victory banner, and they dwell near it, even if they are touched by its shadow, or touched by the wind of its dust, Lord of the gods, all the sins of that sentient being, and all the fears of going to evil destinies will not arise. Sentient beings will not be born in hell, the birthplace of animals, the world of Yama, and the ranks of Asuras. Lord of the gods, that sentient being is prophesied by all the Tathagatas, and it should be known that they will not turn back from the Unsurpassed Perfect and Complete Enlightenment. Lord of the gods, making offerings and service, adorning with flowers, incense, fine incense, flower garlands, unguents, umbrellas, victory banners, streamers, incense, and various ornaments, building a stupa at the crossroads of the road, placing this Dharani here, what need is there to say about joining palms or prostrating or circumambulating? Lord of the gods, that sentient being should be known as a great sentient being, should be known as the son of the Tathagata, should be known as the place of Dharma, should be known as the stupa of the Tathagata. 用装饰等供养，并殷勤侍奉后，他便绕着世尊七圈，以头顶礼世尊的双足，禀白说：世尊，此陀罗尼威力强大，利益众多。世尊，我亦恒常不间断地追随、守护、救护这些有情众生。我能令有情众生远离一切地狱之苦。世尊，我定当报恩，绝不忘恩。之后，四大天王绕着世尊三圈，禀白世尊说：世尊，请详细解说此陀罗尼的仪轨，以及修持的详细方法。于是，世尊告诸四大天王说：谛听！我将为你们解说此陀罗尼的修持方法。为了短命有情众生的缘故，善男子或善女子于每月十五，沐浴后念诵一千零八遍，如此便能令寿命将尽的有情众生，寿命得以延续，远离一切疾病，获得一切罪障的清净，从地狱等一切恶趣中得到解脱。乃至投生为畜生道的众生，若能令其听闻此陀罗尼之声，当知这是它最后一次堕入恶趣。若有人为重病所困，诸医束手无策，也能因此脱离病苦，断绝一切堕入恶趣的因缘，死后往生到极乐世界。当知这是他最后一次胎生。无论转生到何处，皆由莲花化生。生生世世都能忆起前世。如果众生造作恶业，在临终之际，为了他们的利益，将此陀罗尼念诵二十一遍后，洒在他们的骨灰上，他们便能脱离地狱或畜生道。

Touching the feet of the Blessed One with his head, he said: "Blessed One, this dharani is powerful and of great benefit. Blessed One, I will also constantly and without interruption follow, protect, and save these sentient beings. I will cause sentient beings to be averted from all hells. Blessed One, I will surely repay kindness, and will not be ungrateful." Then, the four great kings circumambulated the Blessed One three times, and said to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, please explain in detail the ritual of this dharani, and the detailed method of practice." Then, the Blessed One said to the four great kings: "Listen! I will explain the method of practicing this dharani. For the sake of short-lived sentient beings, a son or daughter of good family, on the fifteenth day of the month, having bathed, should recite it one thousand and eight times. Thus, it will enable sentient beings whose lives are about to end to have their lives extended, to be free from all diseases, to obtain the purification of all obscurations, and to be liberated from all evil destinies such as hells. Even if a being has gone to the animal realm, if the sound of this dharani is proclaimed in its ear, know that this is its last time falling into an evil destiny. If someone is afflicted by a serious illness and doctors are unable to distinguish it, they will also be completely freed from that illness. All causes for being born into evil destinies will be cut off. After death, they will be born in the blissful realm of the world. Know that this is their last time being born from a womb. Wherever they are born, they will be born miraculously from the heart of a lotus. In all lifetimes, they will remember their previous lives. If sentient beings commit evil deeds, at the time of their death, for their benefit, recite this dharani twenty-one times and sprinkle it on their ashes, they will be liberated from hell or the animal realm.
