The deeds of the Tathagatas are all done by this sutra. By this characteristic, it is called the emanation of the Tathagata. When this sutra completely disappears, the teachings of the Tathagata will also completely disappear. By this characteristic, it is called the emanation of the Tathagata. If this sutra lives and remains, the teachings of the Tathagata will also live and remain. By this characteristic, it is called the emanation of the Tathagata. All the Tathagatas also pay homage to this sutra. By this characteristic, it is called the emanation of the Tathagata. Then, the noble Avalokiteshvara, pleased with the Bhagavan, requested, 'I will do as instructed. To whom shall I go who holds this sutra?' The Bhagavan replied, 'By the power of this sutra, all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and all the gods will come.' All the gods also requested, 'Excellent, excellent, we are very happy to offer the sacred things, and all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas will also offer this sacred thing.' The Bhagavan said, 'Secret Lord, Vajrapani, the secret essence of great power, is to bestow all happiness on all sentient beings.' Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Vajrapani said to the Bhagavan, 'Bhagavan, by what characteristic is this sutra called the precursor of the Dharmadhatu?' The Bhagavan said, 'Son of good family, thirty-two days after all the Tathagatas appeared, on the great mountain of Ritang Buzong (place name), this sutra taught the Dharma. By this characteristic, it is called the precursor of the Dharmadhatu.' By the power of this sutra, all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas abide in generating the first mind. By this characteristic, it is called the precursor of the Dharmadhatu. By the power of this sutra, countless immeasurable sons of gods have entered the stream. From the earth, one is placed on the path of liberation from sorrow. Vajrapani Bodhisattva requested: Buddha, in order to guide sentient beings through samsara, you extract the stake of existence, and with wisdom, you destroy the stake of existence and the stream of consciousness. Through the Dharma taught by the Buddha, one can pacify sins and practice virtuous deeds. The Bhagavan declared: Vajrapani, well said, well said, you have spoken excellently. Vajrapani Bodhisattva requested: If someone holds this sutra, recites it, and extensively teaches it to others, what accumulation of merit will they obtain? The Bhagavan declared: Son of noble family, if someone holds this sutra, recites it, and extensively teaches it to others, I will obtain hundreds of thousands of samadhis. I will see hundreds of thousands of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas along with their retinues. I will see hundreds of thousands of millions of kotis of nayutas of Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Buddhas, and with great intention, I will respectfully serve them. I will act as their teacher. I will act as their attendant. I will make offerings. I will offer Dharma robes, alms, bedding, medicine for the sick, and all necessities. I will also accomplish happiness for the Bodhisattvas. I will also serve the Sangha. Those roots of virtue will also be dedicated to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. I will also attend to and honor those Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Buddhas. I will also listen with reverence to the Dharma they teach. I will hold, remember, and recite it. Bodhisattva Vajrapani will, like you, overpower others with strength. By the power of the wrathful one who overpowers others with great strength, may I and all sentient beings have svasti svasti! siddhi siddhi svāhā! All everything, gods and nagas and yakshas and, rakshasas and gandharvas and, asuras and garudas and, kinnaras and mahoragas and, humans and non-humans, all of them, and all the retinue endowed with everything, and Vajrapani rejoiced and praised what was spoken by the Bhagavan. The Great Vehicle Sutra called 'Arya Mahabala' is complete. Translated, revised, and finalized by the Indian master Śīlendrabodhi and the great translator Bande Yeshe De and others.
