If it becomes the cause of..., then what to say of one who writes the letters, and receives and recites, and holds, and reads, and fully understands, and properly contemplates, and extensively and correctly proclaims to other beings. The measure of that accumulation of merit, other than the Tathagata, all sentient beings cannot know or conceive. Then, the Blessed One at that time spoke these verses: Having heard the Sutra Pitaka, rejoicing afterwards, by writing the letters, holding, and reciting, how much merit is generated, sentient beings cannot know. This is to see the Victorious One in all lifetimes, and to gain immeasurable faith in them, and also to know the meaning of the profound Sutra Pitaka. This is to quickly attain supreme enlightenment, and until one attains unsurpassed enlightenment, this is samadhi and clairvoyance, and dharanis and forms and enjoyments, and one will not fall away from seeing the Buddha. Recalling the past lifetimes, the merchant's son, having heard this dharani, saw as many Buddhas as there are sands in the Ganges, and thus attained enlightenment as he wished. Dipamkara Buddha at that time was the merchant's son, and in a previous lifetime was Infinite Light. At that time, the Dharma speaker was Amitayus Buddha, and I rejoiced together with the Fortunate Aeon. Whoever desires to quickly attain enlightenment, whoever desires to quickly subdue the demons, whoever desires the auspicious marks of a hundred merits, if one strives in this, it will not be difficult to obtain. Even if one fills as many world systems as there are sands in the Ganges River with jewels and gives them away, what is the merit of writing and holding, giving cannot even be compared to that. Having heard this, with one-pointed mindfulness, a wise Bodhisattva holds this, and it is said that for those who write this dharani and keep it in mind, attaining enlightenment is not difficult. Then, the Blessed One said to the venerable Shariputra: Shariputra, for the body of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who diligently practices this dharani that is accomplished through limitless doors, eight yakshas dwelling in the snowy mountains, splendor and radiance enter, and day and night they protect, save, and give.

can be established. Which eight? Namely: named Yaksha Warrior, as well as Firm, Master, Thirstless Son's Strength, Wisdom of Conduct, Difficult to Subdue, Terrifying, and Yaksha Good Hand. In order to make these eight Yakshas come, one should bathe, wear very clean clothes, go to places for strolling, and have a mind without hatred towards all sentient beings. The name of this Dharani Dharma should also be kept in mind. If done in this way, these eight Yakshas will quickly show their faces. If one desires Bodhisattva Mahasattva, then these eight born among the gods of conduct should also be remembered, which eight? Namely: named Bodhisattva Mahasattva Samantabhadra, as well as Bhadra, Wisdom Light, Sunlight, Righteous Diligence, Complete Fulfillment of All Thoughts, Star King, and named Bodhisattva Mahasattva Wisdom of Conduct. In order for those eight Bodhisattva Mahasattvas to obtain this Dharani, one should be diligent. The Bodhisattva Mahasattva who is diligent in this Dharani should also make a true vow. One should be grateful, know gratitude, be fond of Dharma, rejoice in Dharma, and be diligent in enduring the profound Dharma. The Bodhisattva Mahasattva who is diligent in Dharani should have the nature of universal giving and equal distribution. He should give even from how small and how little, let alone from much, what need is there to say. When the Bhagavan spoke this Dharani Dharma, thirty kotis of nayutas of hundreds of thousands of Ganges sands of Bodhisattvas obtained this Dharani accomplished by immeasurable doors, and also became irreversible from the Unsurpassed Perfect Enlightenment. Sixty kotis of nayutas of hundreds of thousands of gods, humans, asuras, and other beings who had not previously generated the mind, all generated

I generate the mind of enlightenment. Then, the venerable Shariputra said to the Bhagavan: Bhagavan, what is the name of this Dharma? How should it be held? The Bhagavan said: Shariputra, therefore, you should hold this Dharma, called the Dharani that accomplishes through limitless doors. Also hold it as that which definitely causes Bodhisattvas to manifestly attain excellence in one place. Also hold it as that which makes all demons extremely fearful. Also hold it as that which definitely makes it very easy to obtain all-knowingness in one place. After the Bhagavan spoke thus, the venerable Shariputra and those monks, those Bodhisattvas, and the world with gods, humans, asuras, and gandharvas rejoiced greatly, and highly praised what the Bhagavan had said. The Sutra called "The Noble Dharani that Accomplishes through Limitless Doors" is complete. The Indian Abbot Prajnabarma, and the reviser translator Bande Yeshe De, together with the commentary, later revised and finalized it.
