D883 @#. In the language of India: Arya Sarva Tatagata Adhisthana Hridaya Guhya Dhatu Karanda Nama Dharani Maha Yana Sutra. In Tibetan: The Noble Great Vehicle Sutra, "The Dharani Called the Casket of Secret Relics, the Heart Essence of the Adhisthana of All the Tathagatas." Homage to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Thus have I heard: At one time, the Bhagavan was in the land of Magadha, in the immaculate pleasure garden, by the pool of seven precious jewels. He was surrounded and attended by a great Sangha of Bodhisattvas, a great Sangha of Shravakas, and many hundreds of thousands of myriads of kotis of gods, nagas, yakshas, gandharvas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, mahoragas, humans, and non-humans, as well as hundreds of thousands of people from the villages, all seated together in front of him. Then, in that assembly, there was a great Brahmin like a great sala tree, learned, intelligent, clear, with a good heart, pleasing to see, who had fully embraced the path of the ten virtuous actions, named Immaculate Good Appearance. He always had faith and reverence for the Three Jewels, and with good intentions made prostrations, carefully examined, diligently worked for the benefit of all sentient beings and virtuous deeds, was of great wealth, had vast enjoyments, was rich, possessed many riches, and had abundant resources. Then, the great Brahmin Immaculate Good Appearance went to where the Bhagavan was, and having arrived, circumambulated the Bhagavan seven times, and offered flowers and incense to the Bhagavan. He also offered garments worth a hundred thousand rupees, and a pearl necklace worth a hundred thousand rupees to the Bhagavan. He bowed his head at the two feet, sat before the Bhagavan, and spoke thus to the Bhagavan: "Bhagavan, if you would invite me to my humble dwelling with your retinue of disciples, would the Bhagavan grant his permission for that purpose?" Then, the Bhagavan, understanding the invitation of the great Brahmin Immaculate Good Appearance, remained silent, thus granting his permission. Then, the great Brahmin Immaculate Good Appearance departed from before the Bhagavan.

Having understood that he was granted permission without speaking, he hurried back to his own home. After that night had passed, he arranged food, utensils, and many delicacies of a hundred flavors. With a grand display, he arranged a glorious immeasurable palace, various great immeasurable palaces, and carrying flowers and incense, with many attendants, with cymbals and drums, he went to where the Blessed One was. Having arrived, he requested the Blessed One that the time had come. Then, the great Brahmin Immaculate Good Appearance said to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, now is the time to pass away. Blessed One, if the time for passing away has come, what do you grant me to do?" Then, the Blessed One sighed, looked at his attendants, and said: "All of you who have gathered, today you must do a great deed, come here." Then, the Blessed One arose from that seat. As soon as the Blessed One arose from that seat, various rays of light emanated from the Blessed One's body. That light illuminated all the Buddha-fields in the ten directions, and having truly urged all the Tathagatas, they saw and knew that the Blessed One was about to pass away. Then, the great Brahmin Immaculate Good Appearance offered worship and great reverence to the Blessed One, and greatly beautified the place of the Blessed One's passing away. Many attendants, as well as gods, nagas, yakshas, gandharvas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, mahoragas, Indra, Brahma, the guardians of the world, the great Ishvara, the son of No-Heat, and the four great kings also beautified the place of passing away. Then, not far from the Blessed One, in the middle of the road, there was a garden called the Delightful Grove. In that grove, there was a great old stupa, dilapidated, filled with thorns, full of roots, trees, and rubble, like a pile of sweepings. Then, the Blessed One went to that place, and that old stupa, like a pile of sweepings, also blazed from all sides, emitting blazing rays of various colors.

Sounds arose. From the pile of dust and debris, the sound of "Good, good" arose. Tathagata Shakyamuni, good, good! Today is a good omen of departure. Great Brahmin, when you invited the Tathagata, you are also good! Today, you will accomplish great deeds. Then, the Blessed One, the Tathagata, prostrated with five limbs to the old stupa that was like a pile of dust, circumambulated it three times, took off his robe from his body, and offered it to the old stupa that was like a pile of dust. The Blessed One shed great tears and wept. The Blessed One showed a smile. By showing a smile, he saw all the Tathagatas of the ten directions as if they were in the palm of his hand. All the Tathagatas were also filled with tears and sat there. All those Tathagatas also emitted rays of light and entered the great pile of the old stupa. Then, the many assembled retinues were greatly astonished and disheartened. Then, the great leader of the Yaksha army, Vajrapani, his body trembling, his heart pounding, his vajra shaking, hurriedly went to where the Blessed One was, and upon arriving, bowed his head to the feet of the Blessed One, and said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, what is the reason for the great omen of weeping? Blessed One, what is the omen of showing tears filling your eyes? Blessed One, why do you allow this inquiry to be made in this retinue? Then, the Blessed One said to the great leader of the Yaksha army, Vajrapani: Vajrapani, the accumulation of relics, the stupa of the Tathagata, contains the Dharma category of the stupa of the essence dharani handprint of all the billions (like sesame seeds) of Tathagatas. Vajrapani, wherever this Dharma category exists, there are hundreds of thousands (like sesame seeds) of Tathagatas. The relics of the body of countless Tathagatas such as Tathagata Kharyas Kharyas.
