The Lamp Illuminating the Origin of Chöd. The Lamp Illuminating the Origin of Chöd. The Lamp Illuminating the Origin of Chöd ends. Namo Jñana Dakiniye. Having prostrated to the assembly of wisdom dakinis, I will briefly relate the history of the origin of Chöd. May the Dharma protectors and dakinis grant their blessings. May those who see and hear this be blessed. That is, she is also called Kuntuzangmo, also called Vajravarahi, also called Anatma, also called Jetsun Drolma. She is the goddess of activity, with a dark blue body, two hands, and a wrathful appearance. From her heart, at the tip of a ray of light, emanates an immeasurable Akanishta palace with a seat. In the center of that, the mother who gave birth to the four noble ones, the Perfection of Wisdom of emptiness, is the support for sentient beings to accumulate merit. Urged by the aspiration and compassion of the Holy Mother Tara, the great mother with golden color and four arms, along with the retinue of Buddhas of the ten directions, Bodhisattvas, and immeasurable goddesses, emanates, and is accomplished by the power of aspiration. From the heart center of the great mother, emanates the Vajradhatu Ishvari, dark blue, one face, four arms. From her heart, emanates Vajra Dudulma, a black wrathful mother, as five deities, and resides in the palace above Oddiyana. From her heart, emanates a yellow dakini, one face, two arms, as the main deity and five retinues, and goes to the palace of Oddiyana, who is called the Dakini Gold Island Mother. That Gold Island Mother took one hundred and seven births in the heavenly realm and the human realm, the last of which was Machig. That is, in Tibet, she was born as both a Chinese princess and a Nepalese princess at the same time. The two were combined into one and born as Yeshe Tsogyal. At the same time as these, she emanated as a yellow dakini in the heavenly realm and taught the Dharma to the gods and dakinis. Then, all those emanations were combined into one, and in the land of India, she was born as a pandita named Mönlam Drub (meaning Wish Fulfillment). He converted one hundred thousand heretics to Buddhism. Then, in a cave on Mount Potala, he practiced the wrathful mother five deity practice, the wrathful mother five deities and Jetsun Drolma Amitayus, etc.

Vajrayana masters such as Avalokiteshvara and Orgyen Padmasambhava personally appeared and bestowed empowerment. It was prophesied that a Krodha Mother would have to appear in Tibet. A single dark blue Krodha Mother separated matter and awareness with a hooked knife. Having blessed the corpse so that it would not decay, a Tibetan boy appeared. At that time, four heretical dakinis took birth in Tibet, and in order to subdue their wickedness, they manifested four incarnations. Machig Zhama benefited sentient beings through the gate of Lamdre. Zhangcham Chungchumma benefited beings through the gate of Dzogchen. Shelza Drönnema benefited beings through the gate of Mahamudra. Machig Labdrön benefited beings through the gate of Chöd, these four. The four demonesses to be subdued were: Parpa Karmo, Changmo Namkha, Shelmo Gyajam, and Zhangmo Lhatri, these four later became wisdom dakinis with the power to benefit beings. The history of Machig Labdrön is as follows: In a place called Phyi Grang Tsho Mer, her father was Chökyi Dawa and her mother was Bumcham Ma, and she was born as their daughter. From the time she entered the womb, she had many good dreams, and her aging mother also became young, and a white light was injected into her head, and at night she could clearly see all the scenery, and she recited "Ah Harini Sa" in the womb, and also said, "Mom, give me a new dress fumigated with Gugu incense." When she was born, the fragrance filled the room, and there was a rain of rainbows, music, and flowers. As soon as she was born, she sat in the rainbow light with her legs stretched out or bent, and said, "Mom, are you well?" and made the sound "Ah". On her tongue was a red HRIH (藏文,梵文天城体:ह्रीः,梵文罗马拟音:hrīḥ,汉语字面意思:舍), and on her forehead appeared one eye, with a white A (藏文,梵文天城体:अ,梵文罗马拟音:a,汉语字面意思:阿) and five colors of light, about the size of a horse's tail. On the crown of her head appeared a small white light, marked with a white A (藏文,梵文天城体:अ,梵文罗马拟音:a,汉语字面意思:阿). Her fingers were connected by webs, her nails were copper-colored with five colors of light, and OM (藏文:ཨོཾ,梵文天城体:ओ,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ,汉语字面意思:嗡), AH (藏文,梵文天城体:आ,梵文罗马拟音:ā,汉语字面意思:阿), and HUM (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽) appeared. After that, from the age of three, she recited HRIH (藏文,梵文天城体:ह्रीः,梵文罗马拟音:hrīḥ,汉语字面意思:舍), AH (藏文,梵文天城体:आः,梵文罗马拟音:āḥ,汉语字面意思:阿), Tare, Gate, Harini Sa, etc. She diligently prostrated herself in the shrine. At the age of five, she knew the letters with just a little instruction. At the age of eight, she recited the Eight Thousand Verse Prajnaparamita Sutra once a day. The great benefactor invited her, and among the many panditas and geshes, she recited the Condensed Sutra in a loud voice.
