A compilation of the great Torma transformation for averting death from the Sadhana Kagyu, the astrological Lo-Zla obstacle transformation from the Namchö, and the Torma transformation of the Chinese Confucius, written by Ra ga a sya for future mantra holders and impoverished patrons, the great Mahabala Ho! (藏文:མ་ཧཱ་བ་ལ་ཧོ,梵文天城体:महाबल हो,梵文罗马拟音:mahābala ho,汉语字面意思:Great Strength Ho!) I prostrate to all the peaceful and wrathful Kagyu deities! For the sake of prolonging life through the yoga of the path, six points are taught for averting untimely death: essence, definition, purpose, distinctions, methods, and benefits. First, the essence of averting death is to clear away obstacles to life. Second, the definition is: averting untimely death through skillful means and wisdom. Third, the distinctions are fourfold: outwardly averting through interdependent Torma, inwardly averting through Tsok and medicine, secretly averting through the five elements and wheels, and ultimately averting through the essential meaning of Suchness. Fourth, the purpose is: to prolong life so that there is a need to perfect practice. Fifth, among the four stages of the method for averting death, first, the method for averting through outward interdependent Torma is: although other tantras follow their respective explanations, eliminating each sign of death with a corresponding interdependence, this only has temporary benefits. Therefore, here, the method for averting all interdependencies through a great Torma ritual is: in a secluded place in one's own home, on a clean ground, in the center of a square mandala one arrow-length in size, place a yellow clay turtle facing south. On top of it, place five types of earth (white, yellow, red, green, blue), five types of wood (juniper, fir, birch, juniper, thorny bush), embers taken from five different hearths, five types of water (clean water, snow water, river water, well water, spring water), five types of iron (pen, adze, iron filings, iron pot, saw). Mix these together and fashion them into a life-tree, and around it, use thirteen bre of flour made from five types of grain, and any impure substances from the yogi whose death is being averted.

etc., mix the powder of the five precious substances, the three whites, and the three sweets, and make it into an effigy resembling a large person, placing it facing south. On it, place the eyes of Lungtang, the teeth of a crow, the tongue of a leek. In the heart, place the heart and life-force of an animal born in the same year as the yogi. Insert hair made of tsampa. Attach one empowerment hand to each of the two hands. The right foot is iron, the left foot is copper, and the male and female symbols are created. To know whether it is male or female, on a tiger or cow, inscribe the age on one side of a divination board. On the other side, write: "Repel all the enemy forces of the elements. Bind all discord, hatred, enemy poison. Repel all the realms of the fierce Lord of Death. Transform all black demon divination." Hang this inscription on the right shoulder. Inside a full food container, place a slip of paper with the name and family of someone the same age as oneself. Change the color to match the color of one's own trigram. Make clothes of blue silk and place it on the left side of the great effigy. Then, on the twelve limbs and head, totaling thirteen parts, of the large effigy resembling a human effigy, decorate each with an ornament decorated with effigy flesh, one divine offering, one piece of meat, one silk victory banner, arrows, arrow sheaths, bows and arrows, and the sky, as well as the twelve zodiac signs, one's own birth year, totaling thirteen items, each placed with a matching color.
