Greatness arises from that. From that, extract the essence from non-conceptualization. When sleeping in the lion posture, after visualizing the self-generation deity and the stages of absorption, maintain the essence until falling asleep. Since the time of death and the time of sleep are similar, the stages of dissolution, such as the white path, red path, and black path, are said to appear vaguely rather than clearly. Once one falls into a deep sleep, the consciousness of the eight aggregates, indistinctly, within the central channel of the heart, it is said that the fundamental luminosity of the base slightly appears. Although those are difficult to recognize individually, by welcoming sleep with the culmination of practice, immediately upon falling asleep, without dreaming, when the nature of mind is recognized and remains clear, that is grasping the luminosity of sleep. If one grasps it seven times like that, even if there is no urging at the time of death, Orgyen (Padmasambhava) said that one can grasp it oneself. Before falling asleep, the nature of mind is not distracted, and before waking from sleep, the sleep is deep, one does not know whether one has grasped it or not, and without dreaming even a little, immediately upon waking, right on the nature of mind, one enters clearly, the body and mind are clear, and the senses are clear, that is grasping the deep luminosity. That is what the incomparable Dagpo Lhaje said. When grasping the nature of mind immediately upon falling asleep, a slight movement arises from within the nature of mind. One also knows that one is sleeping, and one sees everything inside the house. In the state of the nature of mind not being distracted, seeing the face of the deity, etc., seeing sights, hearing sounds, various kinds of appearances, that is grasping the subtle luminosity. Even if one does not grasp the nature of mind immediately upon falling asleep, light rays like coral conch shells emanate from the eyes, or one sees light rays like moonlight or sunlight. By that cause, the nature of mind is clearly grasped. From that state, with that light as the cause, without being obscured by houses, mountains, and rocks, one sees distant places and what people are doing, hears what they are saying, etc., occasionally occurring, that is the activity of the luminosity of experience. Thus, practicing based on sleep, that is a great extraction of the essence of non-conceptualization. If one does not grasp the luminosity in that way, the alaya consciousness wrapped in the heart, led by the wind of karma, travels through the channels. Based on that, various kinds of dreams arise. In the state of not knowing whether it is a dream or not, the white aspect of the generation and completion stages has been habituated during the day, that is the dream luminosity.

Do. First, recognize that it is a dream, then through practicing the generation and completion stages, it becomes clearer than daytime. Or, through transforming the body into birds, etc., travel to pure lands, meet deities, listen to the Dharma, etc. In this way, rely on sleep to enhance practice. As it says in the Hevajra Tantra: Sleep should not be abandoned, nor should the senses be suppressed. The meaning of what is said is intended for this. Also, when a beginner is cultivating practice, during the day, unpleasant sounds of foxes and crows, the sounds of mixed flocks of sheep and their young, and noisy sounds, and at night, the sounds of dogs barking and loud water sounds, etc., are very harmful to samadhi. When a harmful sound arises, focus the mind on one harmful sound, mix the sound and the mind, and look at its essence. The sound is heard in the ear, but its essence is emptiness. Do this several times and then meditate diligently. After that, everything heard will appear as the essence of meditation. When the mind is not distracted and is cultivated attentively, whatever various forms of appearances arise, although seen clearly, do not grasp at 'this is this, this is not this,' but abide in the state of mind itself. For example, like a young child visiting a temple. The nature of mind abides in a state of emptiness free from elaboration. This is the way to cultivate the essence of non-elaboration. Even if one realizes that the grasping mind is empty, but because one has not realized that the object of grasping is also empty, place an object such as a vajra bell in front. By mixing it with the mind and meditating, it is not to make the object disappear, but to realize that the object and the mind are mixed, and their essence is emptiness. Similarly, do this with a rock in front, etc. After that, mix all the forms seen at once. Then, visualize the four continents, Mount Meru, and the three thousandfold great thousand worlds, and by mixing them, merge them inseparably. After that, without needing to mix, etc., all external and internal phenomena, like stars appearing in the ocean, although the forms are clear, their essence is emptiness and illusion. Even without meditating, it will naturally arise spontaneously. Similarly, mix the sky itself with the mind, and by cultivating its essence, the mind and the sky merge. Similarly, imagine the sky pervading everywhere, and by mixing it with the mind, inseparably merge into one, to the point where one cannot distinguish 'this part is the sky, this part is the mind,' and in this state, engage in the single practice. First, mix the mind of the deities, such as the yidam, with the mind, inseparably, and look at its essence. After that, like that
