Thinking of utterly ruining future lives, Not harboring such ill intentions towards anyone, Is a sign of cultivating the arising of Bodhicitta. Actually, the mind is joyful, the elements are clear, the senses are sharp, In dreams, bathing, impurities are expelled from the body, Drinking nectar and milk, flying in the sky, Is a sign of practicing the Vajrasattva meditation and recitation. Without having done any actual practice or virtuous deeds, If dreaming of flying, then the clothes become thinner and thinner. Actually not eating food, the illusory body also does not feel hungry, The body's condition is good, the mind is joyful, and a sense of bliss arises, Dreaming of a bountiful harvest, finding precious treasures, Dreaming of wearing good clothes is a sign of the Mandala. In reality, devotion and longing uncontrollably blaze, Calling out the Guru's name, uttering distant calls, While praying, tears uncontrollably flow, Meeting the Guru in dreams, receiving empowerment and instructions, Removing obstacles, eliminating negativities, predicting good and bad, Oneself becoming the Guru himself, Dreaming of knowing that the essence is non-dual and abiding, Is a sign of practicing Guru Yoga. The eight consciousnesses are unclear, like being asleep, Without mindfulness, remaining in a daze for a long time, Is a sign of generating dull Shamatha. Blocking thoughts, not remembering anything, Claiming to meditate by remaining in a daze, Is a sign of generating the view of the Chinese Heshang. Like obtaining freedom of one's own mind, No object is scattered, abiding for a long time, Is a sign of generating common Shamatha. When leaving one's own mind uncorrected and relaxed, Not scattering too much, abiding for a long time, Is a sign of generating qualified Shamatha. When looking at the nature of that abiding, Abiding for a long time in the state of seeing emptiness, Is a sign of realizing the union of Shamatha and Vipassana. The place of arising of the mind, the color and shape of the three realms of beings, Separately examining, not finding even one, Is a sign of the arising of common Vipassana. Whatever thought arises, nakedly looking at its nature, Seeing it self-pacify, like water and water waves, Is a sign of the arising of moving Vipassana. Like threading a needle without distraction, Looking at whatever arises as the nature of abiding and moving, Is a sign of knowing the individual characteristics of abiding and moving. After that, without needing such effort, From just remembering, immediately arriving at the peak, Is a sign of having ease in cultivating practice. Food, clothing, speech, etc.

Attachment gradually decreases. Unwilling to learn various merits related to Dharma. Considering practice and devotion as the core. Realizing that all worldly affairs are unnecessary. When a new practitioner does not crave gold, it is a sign of gaining a blissful experience. Realizing that all dharmas are emptiness. Speaking loudly about emptiness, yet not fearing karmic consequences, it is a sign of developing a wild view of emptiness. Having unwavering certainty about one's own practice. Displeased with everyone, suppressing with anger. it is a sign of developing a clear and stable experience. Having meditated for a long time, yet the mindstream is rougher than before. Miserliness, jealousy are even greater than before. Others call them practitioners, yet they gossip behind their backs. When an old practitioner hoards shoe soles, it is a sign of developing a greatly rough experience. Like smoke before a great fire blazes, if one can maintain autonomy and protect one's nature, it is a sign of quickly arising great realization. All past experiences peel off like skin. The experience of the mind cannot be expressed in words. Certainty, pride all vanish like a rainbow. it is a sign of realizing the nature of one's own mind. Experiences and dreams, pure appearances, not even a trace. Renunciation, weariness, devotion blaze ever more brightly. Without obstacles, spending one's life in practice. It is called the king of signs without signs, the Kagyu lineage greatly values it. The confidence in realizing one's own mind is unwavering. Compassion naturally arises for unenlightened beings. Without attachment to food, wealth, fame. Even if linking together the stages of instructions and key points, year after year, even without memorizing or looking at books, there is no end to beneficial words in the mind. it is a sign of benefiting others and benefiting beings at the right time. This concise summary of the signs of such practice, was requested by Lama Tsondu Gyatso (བླ་མ་བརྩོན་འགྲུས་རྒྱ་མཚོ།), on the waxing moon of the first month of the Wood Snake year (1905), spoken by Bhikshu Raga Asya (དགེ་སློང་རཱ་ག་ཨ་སྱ།), during some evening meditation breaks. The requester wrote this down as a note. May it be of great benefit to some of lesser intelligence! The thirty-fourth chapter, auspicious and complete! The thirty-fourth chapter. On whether the Three Roots deities are accomplished or not, a mirror of magical signs for measuring.
