Sitting in a half-lotus posture, with a focused mind, at the heart center of both myself and the deity in front, upon a fully waxing moon mandala, the seed syllable stands upright, with the mantra or dharani at its end. Visualize the mantra garland with the letter heads facing outwards. To the moon and mantra garland in front, along with the sound, devote your mind single-pointedly, and after reciting as much as possible, from the heart of the visualized deity in front, the mantra garland together with the moon emanates, dissolving into your own mantra garland and moon. Focus single-pointedly on this, reciting with mindfulness. It is good to combine it with the inhalation and exhalation of breath. If you cannot, then visualize until it is clear. During session breaks, offer the white offerings and torma to the visualized deity in front. After requesting them to remain, dissolve yourself as the samaya being into emptiness, and with an ordinary body, engage in activities during the session breaks. During these sessions, it is permissible to drink tea and so on. Taking water, removing shoes, and so on, are similar to the conduct tantras. The method of subduing the three poisons in this tradition is as follows: in front of the wisdom being, who is like a king, yourself as the samaya being, in the manner of a minister, accomplish siddhis in the manner of a king and minister. For example, in front of an all-knowing wheel-turning monarch with extremely strict laws, when a minister briefly reports his own affairs, he must look upon the king's face and listen to his commands. Just as there is no room for distraction and one is cautious, visualize the wisdom deity manifestly in front. Focus your mind single-pointedly on the sound of the dharani mantra. The deity's samaya mudra is in the right hand, held at the heart, and the left hand counts the mala. Just like threading a needle with single-pointed focus, there is no opportunity for afflictions to arise at that time. When going to sleep, if there is a painted cloth, dissolve into it. If not, the wisdom being departs, and auspicious words are spoken. As before, get up in the morning and evening, and take the sojong vows. Constantly practice the evening fast and perform the recitation practice. Thus, for six months, three months, one month, etc., the signs are the same as the common signs. This is the recitation practice, and during this time or at another time, the activities of accomplishment and taking siddhis are performed. In the presence of a painted mandala that is fully assembled, offer pure white offerings and perform fire offerings. From the first to the fourteenth of the month, the method of recitation practice is the same as before. On the fifteenth, both day and night, the mantra should be recited continuously.
