It has a height of sixteen cubits, is complete with marks and signs, and has a hair bun. The head is adorned with five kinds of jewels, and within the head ornament are also thousands of millions of emanated Buddhas. From the white light between the eyebrows of Maitreya, eighty-four thousand heavenly sons adorned with marks and signs sit on lotus seats, constantly teaching the Dharma of non-retrogression day and night, causing the heavenly sons to abide in the state of non-retrogression. Those who hear the name of Maitreya and join their palms will be liberated from the cycle of birth and death for fifty kalpas. Whoever prostrates to Bodhisattva Maitreya with reverence will be liberated from the cycle of birth and death for one hundred million kalpas, attain liberation, and their sins will be purified. If future beings take refuge in Bodhisattva Maitreya, they will not regress from the unsurpassed path. Therefore, please repeat after me with the intention of taking refuge in the Victorious Maitreya and the Three Jewels. Teacher, please listen to me! Until the essence of enlightenment, I take refuge in the Buddhas. I also take refuge in the Dharma and the Sangha of Bodhisattvas. Three times. Then repeat after me this generation of the mind of enlightenment: As the previous Sugatas generated the mind of enlightenment, and the precepts of the Bodhisattvas
