King Trisong Detsen, thinking to ignite the lamp of the sacred Dharma in the dark abyss of Tibet, invited one hundred and eight scholars from the borderlands and the center. He gathered all the bright and intelligent Tibetan children and taught them sounds and letters, but they did not learn a single word. Even when taught words like "Namo Buddhaya" (Tibetan: ན་མོ་བུདྡྷ་ཡ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: नमो बुद्धाय, Sanskrit Romanization: Namo Buddhāya, meaning: Homage to the Buddha), they not only failed to learn but also mispronounced them, causing the Panditas to burst into laughter. The king, thinking that the Tibetan people were too dull-witted to propagate the Buddha's teachings, wept in sorrow. At that moment, Guru Rinpoche prophesied: 'The son of Napa Gorhe Eto in Lhodrak, the son of Kawa Nakawa in Phan Yul, and the son of Chokro, these three will become skilled translators.' So, these three were invited. The one hundred and eight boys, led by these three, were offered to the master. The master bestowed upon them the empowerment of Manjushri, resulting in one hundred and eight individuals who knew how to translate. The most excellent among them were Ka, Chok, and Zhang, who translated all the Kangyur and Tengyur into Tibetan. Among them, the most outstanding was Vairotsana, who from a young age was proficient in one hundred and eight languages. Having attained swift-footedness, he traveled unhindered from India to Zhangzhung and other places. To please the king, he translated the Dharma; to please the Bonpos, he translated Bon scriptures; and to benefit all of Tibet, he translated medicine and astrology. He was known by different names: when translating Sutras, he was called Yeshe De; when translating Mantras, he was called Vairotsana; when translating medicine, he was called Tangla Abar; and when translating Bon, he was called Namchak Thoks. His childhood name was Gan Jak Thoks, and because he was extremely handsome, he was called Je Drimey Dawa Shar. Blessed by Manjushri, he became the most excellent of scholars, so much so that even Indian Panditas like Vimalamitra said, 'Although we call him a translator, in reality, he is a Pandita himself.' Later, it was said that since the Great Translator Rinchen Zangpo, there had been no translator in Tibet as learned as him, and he was like the source of all the new translations. It is said that he once said, 'Vairotsana is like the sun and moon, while I am only like a large star.' Vairotsana later went to Mount Wutai in China, and without leaving his physical body, he dissolved into the heart of Manjushri. Afterwards, he emanated hundreds of millions of manifestations to benefit the Dharma and sentient beings. In general, many of his incarnations have appeared in Tibet.

༔ One emanation is the emanation of the unchanging Vajra. At the age of eleven, on the twenty-sixth day of the Saga month in the Fire Monkey year, White Manjushri, adorned as usual, actually appeared in the sky and spoke this sadhana. At the age of twelve, on the second day of the intercalary month of the Fire Monkey year, the emanation of Orgyen, in his guise, actually spoke this. Furthermore, there is a small booklet of this Dharma cycle, which is considered one of the thirteen books of the Sky Dharma. In order to receive such an empowerment with undiminished blessings, please repeat. Namo Manjushriye. To the assembly of deities with the monkey-faced hand symbol of Manjushri, I pray, grant me empowerment and accomplishment. Repeat three times. Think that you are taking refuge in the Three Jewels and confessing all sins, and then repeat this: I take refuge in the Three Jewels. I also take refuge in Manjushri. I confess all sins and non-virtues individually. I rejoice in the virtues of beings. I hold the Buddha's Bodhi in mind. I take refuge in the Buddha, Dharma, and Supreme Assembly, until enlightenment. In order to perfectly accomplish the benefit of both self and others, I generate the mind of Bodhi. Having generated the supreme mind of Bodhi, I treat all sentient beings as guests. I will practice the supreme and desirable Bodhi conduct, and for the benefit of beings, may I attain Buddhahood. Repeat three times. Then, visualize yourselves like this: Manjushri who dispels darkness, body red in color, one face, four arms, hand symbols as follows: the first two hands hold a sword, the next two make the offering gesture. Seated on a moon and lotus seat, adorned with silk and jewels. Having visualized this clearly, at the crown of the head is a white OM (藏文:ཨོཾ,梵文天城体:ओम्,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ,汉语字面意思:嗡), at the throat is a red AH (藏文:ཨཱཿ,梵文天城体:आः,梵文罗马拟音:āḥ,汉语字面意思:阿), and at the heart is a blue HUNG (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽). In the center of the heart, on the moon seat, is a red DHI (藏文:དྷི,梵文天城体:धी,梵文罗马拟音:dhī,汉语字面意思:德) syllable. From there, rays of light radiate, and from the crystal palace of Mount Wutai in China, Manjushri appears as a youth, the large body as Mount Meru, the small as a mustard seed. The speech is a chain of mantras, the heart is the red DHI syllable, falling like rain, dissolving into you, visualize dissolving. HUNG (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽)! Assembly of deities who have become Manjushri youth, please invite and descend to this place, grant great blessings, I pray to the fortunate and faithful!
