The purification of the Wrathful Ones. Hūṃ! Above is a Vajra tent, Below is a Vajra ground. In between is a Vajra fence. Having sealed the boundaries with a great fire, May there be no access for the executioners. Oṃ Vajra Nami Rakta Hūṃ! Thus, seal the boundaries. Purifying sins, obscurations, and habitual tendencies: On the crown of the head of the deceased, visualize the self-arisen, great secret syllable A (Tibetan: ཨ, Devanagari: अ, Romanized Sanskrit: a, Literal meaning: A). Place Taṃ (Tibetan: ཏཾ, Devanagari: तं, Romanized Sanskrit: tam, Literal meaning: Tam) on the crown of the head. Clearly meditate on these, and through the rays of light and the vase empowerment, and washing with water, may all the karma and habitual tendencies of being born in the six realms be purified and cleansed. Hūṃ! This vase is a celestial palace, Where the peaceful and wrathful deities of Kunsang reside. From their bodies, a stream of nectar descends, May it purify your obscurations, May the three poisons be completely purified. Oṃ Āḥ Hūṃ Svāhā! Hold the vase on the crown of the head. Oṃ Āḥ Hūṃ Svāhā! Recite the Hundred Syllable Mantra to purify obscurations, and scatter sand. Giving Dharma teachings: Hūṃ! Great deceased one, You may wander in the six realms, therefore supplicate the six protectors of the six realms, the six great sages, and attain liberation. Oṃ Maṇi Padme Hūṃ! If you wish, you can offer prostrations and praises, For the meaning of empowerment: Alas, vast peaceful and wrathful ones, We sinful deceased ones, Are oppressed by the faults of samsara, We take refuge in you, Please hold us with your compassion, And grant us empowerment. May the pure essence of the five aggregates and elements be transformed into the nature of the supreme hundred families. If desired, offer symbolic items as well. The food offering is blessed with the mantra of the treasury of space. Alas, son of the deceased lineage! With attachment to the practice of meditating on food, and the debts of previous lives, if you are about to be born in the realm of pretas, may I dedicate this offering, by the power of truth of the three roots and deities, may you receive it as it is dedicated! Sarva tathāgata hūṃ! Recite "Lambaṭa" etc. Showing the path: Alas, son of the deceased lineage! Without attachment to this samsara, without any doubt, please go to Sukhavati! May the consciousness of the deceased transform into a white A, and like an arrow being shot, dissolve into the heart of the unchanging light of the Dharmakaya, and become enlightened! Phaṭ! Recite fiercely. Burning the effigy: Hūṃ! By the fire of the five wisdoms, may your five aggregates be purified, and may the five poisons be completely purified, and may you attain the five wisdom bodies! Oṃ hūṃ hūṃ hūṃ ā, sprinkle the ashes mixed with the hundred-syllable mantra etc. with vase water while reciting the mantra, place tsatsas, and consecrate with the hundred-syllable essence mantra, and scatter flowers. One should make profound and vast aspirations. If you wish to elaborate, then perform purification, bathing the deities, auspicious verses, and other rituals as above. The food offering and complete path instructions, along with the words of the self-arisen tantra, can be added. The practice for the living is explained separately. Like a daily practice, after confession, engage in completion, and it is sufficient to omit the gathering before and after. Thus, for the sake of my own practice, on the tenth day of the snake-headed moon of the Araka tree, I have extracted it from the texts. If there are any errors, I confess to the deities, and may all those connected by this virtue be born in Sukhavati! Sarva maṅgalaṃ! Again, Gyurme Ngedön Tenzin, as he completed the limbs of the ritual, according to the practice transmitted from him, compiled the words of the text that are greatly blessed and fluent for collective recitation, and arranged them into a single stream for easy memorization. May this also cause the activity of liberation for all those connected to be constant and pervasive! Good! Good! Good!
