Third, explaining the fruit of abandonment, complete knowledge. Third, explaining the fruit of abandonment, complete knowledge. Third, explaining the fruit of abandonment, complete knowledge. If the path is different, then is the abandonment of afflictions also different? Answer: All afflictions are abandoned by their respective antidotal abandoning paths, and because the attainment is cut off, the abandonment is exhausted in one instance (therefore there is no difference). However, the attainment of separation from these afflictions differs again and again. (That is, six times) Where? If the faculties are dull, then their respective antidotes arise, and the four fruits of the ascetic life, such as stream-enterer, are attained, and the time when the dull faculties develop into sharp faculties, there are six times in all. If the faculties are sharp, then there is no change in the faculties, so there are differences in five times. Among them, the arising of the antidote is the path of liberation because it arises together with the attainment of separation. Because the great separation of the uninterrupted path is only directed towards arising, but has not yet actually arisen. By this separation, the name of complete knowledge is obtained in those stages. In general, complete knowledge is divided into two types: complete knowledge of wisdom and complete knowledge of abandonment. The first is the wisdom of the uncontaminated (liberation), and the second is its object, that is, the individual observation of cessation separated from what is to be abandoned. Therefore, of these two, the latter is referred to here. The reason why it is established as complete knowledge is because the object is named by the subject, or the fruit abandonment is named by the cause wisdom. The sutra also says: "What is complete knowledge? That is, abandoning desire and attachment to this, and completely transcending desire and attachment, this is called complete knowledge." Such complete knowledge, if distinguished from the perspective of abandoning what is to be abandoned, has nine aspects. For example, in the desire realm, through the seeing of the first two truths, two things are exhausted, that is, one complete knowledge of abandoning the suffering and origin of the desire realm's seeing what is to be abandoned, and the exhaustion of the seeing what is to be abandoned of the cessation and path truths, that is, the two complete knowledge of abandoning the seeing what is to be abandoned of the cessation and the abandoning of the seeing what is to be abandoned of the path.

Just as the three kinds of perfect knowledge are present when the afflictions to be abandoned by seeing in the desire realm are abandoned, so too, the perfect knowledge when the afflictions to be abandoned by seeing in the two upper realms are abandoned is also three, namely, the afflictions to be abandoned by seeing of the first two truths of the two upper realms, and so forth. Thus, the abandonment of the afflictions to be abandoned by seeing in the three realms is established as six kinds of perfect knowledge. The perfect knowledge possessed by the abandonment of the afflictions to be abandoned by meditation is three more than the previous six, namely, from the abandonment of the afflictions to be abandoned by meditation in the three realms, in sequence (when the ninth level of the desire realm is exhausted, it is abandoned), the exhaustion and abandonment that is similar to the final part, and the exhaustion of the afflictions of the form realm is abandoned, the outflows or desire are exhausted, meditation (the exhaustion of the afflictions of the formless realm is abandoned), the exhaustion of all outflows or the perfect knowledge of the complete exhaustion of all bonds. If the perfect knowledge of the abandonment of the afflictions to be abandoned by seeing in the two upper realms is combined into one, and the perfect knowledge of the abandonment of the afflictions to be abandoned by meditation is separated, then the afflictions to be abandoned by meditation are the antidotes to the nine levels of afflictions to be abandoned by meditation between the grounds of the two upper realms, the immediate cause of the path of no interruption and the path of liberation are countless, and so forth, including the immediate cause of both contaminated and uncontaminated, there are nine levels, because the antidotes are different. As for the antidotes to the afflictions to be abandoned by seeing, the antidotes practiced in the form realm, such as subsequent acceptance, are also the antidotes to the afflictions to be abandoned by seeing in the formless realm, so the antidotes are the same. Of these nine kinds of perfect knowledge, the first six are the result of acceptance, because they are the result of the path of no interruption of the path of seeing. If it is said that perfect knowledge is not the result of acceptance, because it is the result of uncontaminated wisdom, and the scriptures say that stainless acceptance and so forth are not wisdom, because acceptance is not wisdom. Perfect knowledge is the result of the wisdom of the retinue of acceptance, although the two, wisdom and acceptance, have the same result, the result of wisdom is said to be the result of acceptance, just as it is said that what is done by the retinue of the king is done by the king. Or because wisdom is the main one and acceptance is the retinue, in reality the main one is the result of wisdom, but just as the retinue is attributed to the king, the retinue is attributed to the result of acceptance, so the teacher Gangpel explains. The remaining last three of the six kinds of perfect knowledge are wisdom.
