Explanation of the World of Sentient Beings. Explanation of the World of Sentient Beings. Among them, the world of sentient beings and the world of containers, first (regarding the explanation of sentient beings who accumulate karma), the classification of sentient beings, special dharmas, and extensive explanation through establishment, among the three, first divided into three realms, namely, led by non-virtuous karma, or because of not being happy, it is hell, namely Naraka (Tibetan: ན་ར་ཀ་, Devanagari: नरक, Romanized Sanskrit: naraka, literal Chinese meaning: no joy), because "Na" (Tibetan: ན་) is negation, and "Raka" (Tibetan: རཀ་) is joy. The scholar Dundzang said that it is called hell because there is no protection. Food and drink are attached to the mind, or those who go there do not return, or because they have thirst, they are hungry ghosts, which means "Preta" (Tibetan: པྲེ་ཏ་, Devanagari: प्रेत, Romanized Sanskrit: preta, literal Chinese meaning: the departed). Because they crawl and walk, they are animals, which means "Tiryag" (Tibetan: ཏིཪྱག་, Devanagari: तिर्यक्, Romanized Sanskrit: tiryak, literal Chinese meaning: horizontal). Worldly people call them children of the mind, and because the mind is heavier, they are humans, which means "Manusha" (Tibetan: མནུ་ཥ, Devanagari: मनुष्य, Romanized Sanskrit: manusya, literal Chinese meaning: human). Therefore, the humans of the first kalpa are also declared to be born from the mind. The word "etc." is used in conjunction with destruction. Gods are born from the body of Brahma, (or because they eat nectar or their bodies have light), enjoy happiness, are worthy of offerings, and because the palace is in the sky, it means "Deva" (Tibetan: དེ་བ་, Devanagari: देव, Romanized Sanskrit: deva, literal Chinese meaning: god). Namely, the Great Kings (four races), the Thirty-three Heavens, the Heaven of No Strife, the Tushita Heaven, the Heaven of Delightful Transformation, and the Heaven of Others' Transformations, a total of six heavens. Thus, from hell to the six heavens, including the container world, are the desire realm. Here, sentient beings (regarding the object), because they have desire for coarse food and intercourse, and live on the five desires, (because they are not placed equally and the desire of desire increases), the container world is also the abode of sentient beings with desires, and because they hold their own characteristics. As it is said in the scattered scriptures: "The various worlds are not desire, the discrimination of the person is desire, the various worlds dwell in this way, but the stable ones gather longing here." As it is said. (Then, is the desire of desire also excessively increased for the mind of the emanation of desire?), By the power of emanation, only the smell of attachment or the dharma of desire is emanated for the mind of the emanation, that is, it becomes the mind of the emanation of another place.

Because there is no emanation in other places, and hearing others making evil emanations, even without attachment, it is done, or if one's own emanation declines, attachment arises to it. Therefore, it does not increase. If these are divided in detail, there are eight hot hells in hell. If humans are divided into four continents, then know that the desire realm has twenty. The cold hells and neighboring hells exist like the retinue of the hot hells. Because the ephemeral ones do not have a fixed abode, they are not counted. The subcontinents are also the retinue of the continents. Asuras and others are also the desire realm, but that will be explained as being included in the five paths of the desire realm. Thus, there are ten unfortunate realms and ten fortunate realms, totaling twenty. From the basis of the earth, there are eight hot hells, eight cold hells, pretas, asuras, the four continents of humans and eight subcontinents, totaling twelve. The four great kings and other six heavens, these thirty-six places are called the desire realm. Because animals wander together with gods and humans, their abodes are not established separately. As it is said, the teacher Nagarjuna also said in the commentary on the Śālu Green Chapter: "The differences of realms, destinies, and births, the desire realm has thirty-six kinds," which is in accordance with thirty-six. Others say that there are eighteen hells, and pretas and animals are divided into two types, those with and without a place of residence, so there are four, humans have twelve, asuras (Rāhu, Neck-garland, Extremely Victorious, Good Rope) four, and gods six (twenty-two fortunate realms, twenty-two unfortunate realms, are the places of the desire realm), totaling forty-four. Explaining the form realm means that, from the desire realm, in terms of qualities and abodes, the seventeen places above are the places of the form realm. Because from the desire realm, one has been freed from desire, but still has desire for form, (because meditation and its dependent body have desire for form, and there is no action,) therefore one holds one's own characteristics. If it is said that the form realm is encompassed by the four dhyanas, then why are there seventeen?
