Since they are not mutual locations, they are also not expressers. Some say that if there is no form, then the absence of names would lead to the absence of conceptualization. Therefore, although there are names, they are not expressible and expressive because there are no words. (Among the two teachers) it also shows sentient beings, because it arises from the effort of (the speaker) and exists in the aggregates belonging to the continuum. (Among the three arising from the cause of equal share) it arises from the similar cause, but not from the increasing and ripening causes, because it is not an accumulation of particles, so it will not increase by the causes of increasing, and because it arises and ceases only by intention, (in non-associated formations) what arises from ripening does not follow intention. It is not predicted as virtuous and afflicted, because it is also possessed by those who are free from desire and those who have cut off the roots of virtue. Therefore, it is only un-obscured and un-indicated. Just as those names and so on show sentient beings, arise from similar causes, and are un-obscured and un-indicated, so is the commonality. However, this commonality is also produced from ripening, because the commonality of ripening of the senses and so on is produced from previous actions. (The similar cause arising here is the commonality of virtuous and other dharmas.) It belongs to the three realms such as the desire realm, because even in the formless realm there is commonality, which is different from the former. Attainment is of two kinds, arising from similar causes and ripening, and other differences have already been explained. Similarly, characteristics such as birth also arise from similar causes and ripening, and are the three realms. There are both showing and not showing sentient beings, and there are three: virtuous, non-virtuous, and unindicated. The two absorptions and non-associated formations arise from similar causes, but not from increasing and ripening, because all three are not form, (the unattained of ripening is also not ripening, let alone others,) both absorptions are definitely only virtuous, and non-associated formations are virtuous and non-virtuous.
