Like that, each region has twelve great regions, and each great region has one million villages, totaling ninety-six hundred thousand villages. Each million villages is called a 'kingdom [ ] village'. 'The right half' refers to the right side of the upper half of Mount Kailash (冈底斯山), which is the north, and 'right' refers to the right northern direction in a clockwise manner. There, known as Shambhala (香巴拉), is the abode of the great victors, the masters of the ten bhumis, the Rigden Kings (种姓持有者), possessing one million villages. It is specifically mentioned that this one million villages of Shambhala is more than the ninety-six hundred thousand villages, indicating that there are a total of ninety-seven hundred thousand villages. Its center is Mount Kailash, surrounded by land in the shape of eight lotus petals, and the overall size is: 'Shambhala, widely known as Kalapa (卡拉帕), is surrounded by mountains on all four sides, and the range of an arrow is one hundred yojanas', which indicates this. Although Shambhala refers to the area on top of Mount Kailash, all ninety-six hundred thousand villages are called Shambhala, which is named after the main location. The outside of the eight lotus petal-shaped land where the ninety-six hundred thousand villages of Shambhala are located is also surrounded by mountains, and its direct width is five hundred yojanas, which is one thousand yojanas in manifest teachings, and the surrounding width is two thousand five hundred yojanas, which is three thousand yojanas in manifest teachings. Dividing the direct width of five hundred yojanas by three gives one hundred sixty-six and two-thirds yojanas, which is the size of the central Mount Kailash and each lotus petal, and the remaining two yojanas are the size of the mountains on each side of the surrounding area. The thickness of the surrounding ice mountains on top of Mount Kailash is also about one yojana. 'Surrounded by mountains on all four sides', this indicates that the outside of the eight lotus petal shape is surrounded by ice mountains and rocky mountains in a square shape, or one might think so. The center surrounded by ice mountains on top of Mount Kailash is Shambhala, which can be known from the statement 'the tall palace built by the gods is behind Mount Kailash', and when showing the changes of day and night, it is definitely located in the area of Mount Kailash.' It is said that the ninety-six great regions are also called the region of Mount Kailash. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One should know its meaning. Shambhala, also known as Kalapa, means that among the one hundred million cities of Shambhala, the most important is the city of Kalapa. The side length of Kalapa city is twelve yojanas (an ancient Indian unit of length). To its south is the Malaya Garden, to the east of the Malaya Garden is the Near Joy Lake (Nye-ba yid-kyi mtsho), and to the west is the White Lotus Lake (Padma dkar-po'i mtsho), all three of which are twelve yojanas in size. In the center of the Malaya Garden is the house of the Kalachakra Mandala (Dus kyi 'khor lo'i dkyil 'khor), which measures four hundred cubits (khru), and the side length of the Vajra Garland (rdo rje phreng ba) is one thousand two hundred cubits. In the center of Kalapa city is the royal palace, the size of which should also be the same as the size of the Vajra Garland of the Kalachakra Mandala. Then, since this size can accommodate one hundred million cities on Mount Kailash, as well as the Malaya Garden and two lakes, how can each lotus petal, with a side length of one hundred and sixty-six yojanas, accommodate twelve million cities around it? Each lotus petal has a side length of one hundred and sixty-six yojanas, which, according to the Abhidharma calculation, is equivalent to three hundred and thirty-two yojanas, which is eighty-three days' journey. Each petal has that many days' journey in width, and if evenly distributed, its area must exceed two-thirds, and two-thirds of eighty-three days' journey exceeds fifty-four days' journey. Multiplying fifty-four by eighty-three yields four thousand four hundred and eighty-two square days' journey. Dividing it by twelve yields three hundred and seventy-three square days' journey. Arranging these squares into a square shape, two sides each have twenty-one days' journey, and the other two sides each have about eighteen days' journey. This area is equivalent to the land of each ten million cities. One square day's journey is equivalent to sixteen square yojanas, one square yojana is equivalent to sixty-four goros (an ancient Indian unit of length), and one square goros is equivalent to two hundred and fifty thousand bows (Gzhu 'dom, an ancient Indian unit of length). Multiply these bow squares by the number of goros squares, sixty-four, then multiply by the number of yojana squares, sixteen, and then multiply by the number of day journey squares, three hundred --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
