纳摩 guru mañjughoṣāya(藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思:顶礼文殊师利上师)。

A Discussion on Cultivating Motivation and Other Practices: Delighting the Wise. A Discussion on Cultivating Motivation and Other Practices: Delighting the Wise. This is the treatise called A Discussion on Cultivating Motivation and Other Practices: Delighting the Wise. Namo guru mañjughoṣāya (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning: Homage to the Guru Manjushri). The body born from the glory of the two accumulations. The speech proclaiming the eighty-four thousand collections of Dharma. The mind that sees all knowable things as they are. I bow to the unparalleled teacher, the chief of the Shakyas. All the Dharma principles you have spoken, are for the purpose of leading sentient beings to the path of maturation and liberation. You have no actions that are not for the benefit of others. Therefore, you are the source of benefit, the definite refuge. The path of higher realms and definite goodness taught by the Protector, though numerous in names, is in accordance with the faculties of sentient beings. The path of the three types of individuals spoken of, here will be explained based on that principle. Furthermore, those who are wise and seek meaning, in order to explain the way to do virtuous deeds for one day and one night, and to cultivate motivation, in response to their request, I will briefly explain. In general, virtuous deeds for one day and one night should be done according to one's own wishes, and there is no separate requirement. In particular, if according to the Sutra aspect, then as explained in the Lamrim; in the Mantra aspect, on top of that, one should contemplate the realization of whichever deity of the four classes of Tantra. In the Anuttara Yoga, such as the generation and completion stages of Guhyasamaja, Chakrasamvara, Vajrabhairava, etc., one should engage in whatever one prefers. If one abandons these and merely follows what others have arranged, how is that appropriate? However, a concise practice will fall upon the pith instructions, so one should understand that principle. At that time, other recitations, offering tormas, and how to perform food rituals, etc., should also be done according to the circumstances. Even so, the basis of all Buddhist Dharma is the refuge in the Three Jewels. If there is unfeigned refuge, then whatever Dharma one does will become Buddhist Dharma, entering Buddhism, becoming the basis for taking vows, and becoming the cause for attaining higher realms and even definite goodness. However, merely taking refuge in the Three Jewels for the sake of curing diseases in this life

Moreover, it is not merely a general refuge, but those refuges taken with the intention to be liberated from the lower realms in the future, to be liberated from samsara, and to attain Buddhahood are more excellent than the former, and are special refuges. Those who take refuge focusing only on their own benefit, taking refuge with the intention of benefiting others, are even more excellent. Furthermore, saying "I take refuge" with words is a verbal refuge, but the real refuge is the refuge of the mind that relies on it, that is, to trust and place hope in the refuge object from the bottom of one's heart. In order for that mind to become very stable, one must believe in karma and its effects, and one must know the qualities of refuge as explained in the great scriptures. In order to ascertain these through reason, one must be well-versed in the reasoning of Pramana. Although the method of adjusting motivation is included in the process of training the mind sequentially on the paths of the three types of individuals, if we explain motivation by applying it to general classifications, then whatever the action, whether noble or base, initially thinking that for that purpose I will do this action, these are the motivations of the cause. And the motivation at the time of engaging in that action is the motivation of the time. For example, initially having the thought of killing, and the motivation at the time of killing, and so on. Therefore, thinking that I will not kill, and then the motivation at the time of not killing, and so on. In this regard, one should give charity with the thought of benefiting the future. Like this, the initial altruistic thought that arises is the main motivation, and it will also become a vow in the future. However, the mind of giving at the time of giving charity is born from motivation and is not the real motivation. But, one should also understand how the motivation of the time intervenes during that period, and it is the same for other actions such as keeping vows. There are three types of motivation: motivation that is completely influenced by self-interest, motivation that is completely influenced by the interest of others, and motivation that is influenced by the interest of both self and others. For these motivations, one can aim at this life and the next life individually, or jointly. Furthermore, there are three types of motivation: virtuous, non-virtuous, and neutral. The first two are the causes of wanting to engage in virtuous or non-virtuous actions.
