A Good Path to Tushita: An Explanation of the Maitreya Prayer. A Good Path to Tushita: An Explanation of the Maitreya Prayer. A Good Path to Tushita: An Explanation of the Maitreya Prayer. Namo Guru Manjughoshaya. The seven horses draw the perfect accumulation of the two accumulations, the profound and vast Dharma body's city is sublime and beautiful. Extremely beautiful and pleasing to the eye, the mandala of the Form body is perfectly adorned. The environment of activity that pervades all sentient beings without exception. The supreme among gods, the sun of the Sage King, is the refuge for all beings, including myself. Abiding at the summit of the Lord of the Earth of Abandonment and Realization. Standing majestically on the white lotus, the protector of the earth of loving-kindness and compassion. Bestowing the command of Dharma upon the assembly of the fortunate immortals. Homage to the thousand-eyed regent who possesses the kingdom of sovereignty. That protector, in the past, with skillful means, in order to quickly attain enlightenment, performed the great prayer of the six perfections. I shall explain the lotus of that prayer with the fingertips of discriminating wisdom. This has two parts: the prophecy of the basis of the subject matter, and the actual explanation of the meaning of the text. First, this text comes from the forty-first chapter of the Arya Ratnakuta Sutra, entitled "The Questions of Maitreya," which is one fascicle. This also has three parts: the cause of the instigation, the actual instigation, and the meaning of the instigation. In brief, in the past, when the Buddha Bhagavan was dwelling on Mount Vargana, the mountain where the rakshasa child-eaters lived, Maitreya asked, "What qualities must a bodhisattva possess in order to abandon the lower realms, not be influenced by evil friends, and attain perfect enlightenment?" The Teacher replied with the mind of enlightenment that is complete with excellent intention, etc. Thus, he taught thirteen categories of teachings from one to ten. Then, Maitreya praised the Teacher through the gate of the six perfections. Then, Ananda praised Maitreya, and the Teacher rejoiced and said, "Maitreya not only praises me now, but also praised the Buddha Light-Appearing-Completely-Knowing in the past, many eons ago, and also attained forbearance of the unborn dharma." Then Ananda asked, "If Maitreya attained forbearance at that time, why has he not yet attained Buddhahood?"

It is said to be for the purpose of holding pure lands. Maitreya said that after attaining the noble path, after forty-two kalpas, I will generate the mind of enlightenment. If that is the case, from this kalpa, after ninety-four kalpas, I must attain Buddhahood. I said that I will strive diligently and quickly attain Buddhahood. Then, he spoke of twelve methods for quickly attaining Buddhahood, the first of which is: In the past, I performed many difficult practices of giving, giving away jewels, wives, heads, eyes, kingdoms, enjoyments, blood, bones, and all limbs. Maitreya said that without such difficult practices, one can achieve enlightenment through the easy vehicle, the easy path, and the easy entry. Then, Ananda asked: Maitreya, without intense difficult practices, what is the skillful means of traversing the path through easy methods? In response, the Teacher said: Ananda, when the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Maitreya was practicing the conduct of a Bodhisattva in the past, three times during the day and three times during the night, he would drape his upper garment over one shoulder, place his right knee on the ground, join his palms, and recite this prayer: I prostrate to all Buddhas! And so on, finally saying: Through skillful means, with the easy vehicle, the easy path, and the easy entry, the skillful means of perfectly achieving unsurpassed, complete enlightenment is that. That is to say, that prayer is not merely expressed in words, but one must practice according to that meaning in order to attain Buddhahood. That method is not only intended for Maitreya's skillful means, but the path of the seven limbs and the six perfections is also for later followers to understand as the path of accumulating merit and skillful means. Second, explaining the actual content of the text is divided into five parts: explaining the name, explaining the translation homage, the way of making aspirations, explaining the content of the text separately, and the order of the conclusion. The first is: In Indian Sanskrit, the name of this prayer is: ཨཱརྱ་མཻ་ཏྲི་པྲ་ཎི་དྷ་ན་རཱ་ཛ་ (Tibetan), आर्यमैत्रीप्रणिधानराज (Sanskrit Devanagari), āryamaitrīpraṇidhānarāja (Sanskrit Romanization), Noble Maitreya's Prayer King (Chinese literal meaning). If it is translated into Tibetan, it becomes the Noble Maitreya's Prayer King. ཨཱརྱ་ (Tibetan), आर्य (Sanskrit Devanagari), ārya (Sanskrit Romanization), Noble (Chinese literal meaning) is noble, མཻ་ཏྲི་ (Tibetan), मैत्री (Sanskrit Devanagari), maitrī (Sanskrit Romanization), Maitreya (Chinese literal meaning) is Maitreya, པྲ་ནི་དྷ་ན་ (Tibetan), प्रणिधान (Sanskrit Devanagari), praṇidhāna (Sanskrit Romanization), aspiration (Chinese literal meaning) is prayer, རཱ་ཛ་ (Tibetan), राज (Sanskrit Devanagari), rāja (Sanskrit Romanization), king (Chinese literal meaning) is king. Second, the translation homage is: Buddhas and
