The meaning of decline, the meaning of poverty, the meaning of abiding, the meaning of desiring harmony, the meaning of truly entering, the meaning of wrongly entering, and benefiting others through the door of pleasing others—these are the eleven activities of benefiting others. Third, patience: The mind that does not become agitated by harm, suffering, and their causes, and has firm faith in the Dharma, is the nature of patience. It becomes a paramita by possessing three qualities. If divided, there are three: not minding harm, accepting suffering, and having certainty about the Dharma. The first is: not being angry with the person who harms. The second is: not being angry at suffering and its causes, such as thorns. The third is: to cultivate by believing in the objects of faith, the Three Jewels; the objects to be realized, the two selflessnesses; the objects of acceptance and rejection, karma and its effects; the objects of meditation, enlightenment and the means to attain it; and the objects of listening and contemplation, the twelve divisions of scripture. Fourth, diligence: The mind that rejoices in accumulating virtue and benefiting sentient beings is diligence. It becomes a paramita by possessing three qualities. If divided, there are three: armor-like diligence, diligence in accumulating virtue, and diligence in benefiting sentient beings. The first is: not to mention countless sentient beings, even for the sake of one sentient being, if it were necessary to abide in hell for countless eons to accomplish Buddhahood, one would enter without weariness, this is donning armor. The second is: to strive to perfect the six paramitas and to perfect the accumulations. The third is: as previously stated, to strive to benefit others through the eleven activities of benefiting others. Fifth, meditative concentration: The mind that is not distracted from virtuous objects is the nature of meditative concentration. It becomes a paramita by perfecting practice or by possessing three qualities. If divided, there are three: abiding in bodily and mental bliss, manifest accomplishment of qualities, and meditative concentration that benefits sentient beings. The first is: meditative concentration that generates physical and mental pliancy. The second is: meditative concentration that accomplishes qualities such as clairvoyance, liberation, and cessation. The third is: accomplishing the benefit of sentient beings through the eleven activities of benefiting

It is certain. The sixth is wisdom: That which completely distinguishes the objects of designation is the nature of wisdom. When it is encompassed by the three dharmas and the habit is perfected, it becomes the perfection of wisdom. Divided, there are three types: wisdom that realizes ultimate truth, wisdom that realizes conventional truth, and wisdom that benefits sentient beings. The first is: all wisdom that realizes emptiness. The second is: wisdom that is skilled in the five sciences or whatever is appropriate. The third is: wisdom that knows well how to accomplish the benefit of sentient beings. Although there is a view that the six perfections are only found in the Buddha-land, having already reached the other shore is in the Buddha-land, while going there is in the path of learning, which is Je Rinpoche's view. The benefits of practicing the six perfections are: The Protector Nagarjuna said in the Precious Garland: "Giving brings enjoyment and the happiness of discipline, patience brings radiance, diligence brings majesty, meditation brings peace, wisdom brings liberation, and loving-kindness accomplishes all purposes. All seven of these, at once, go to the other shore, wisdom is an inconceivable realm, and one will obtain the position of the protector of the world." Like that. The function and benefits of the six perfections include: In the Sutra Collection it says: "Giving completely ripens sentient beings who are suffering, discipline avoids falling into many animal migrations, and avoids the eight unfree states, and always obtains leisure and endowment. Patience obtains excellent and supreme form, beautiful like gold, becoming worthy of being seen by beings. Diligence does not diminish the qualities of white dharma, and obtains the endless wisdom, the treasury of the Victorious Ones. Meditation abandons contempt for the qualities of desire, and manifests clairvoyance and samadhi. Wisdom, having completely understood the nature of dharma, will completely transcend from the three realms. The best of men turns the precious wheel, and also teaches the Dharma to beings in order to end suffering. After completely accomplishing these dharmas, that Bodhisattva will take hold of completely pure lands and pure beings, and will also completely uphold the lineage of the Buddha and the lineage of the Dharma, as well as the lineage of the Sangha and all the Dharma."

Holding to the earth. Healing the diseases of sentient beings, becoming the supreme of physicians. Having spoken this teaching of wisdom, complete with the path to enlightenment. Therefore, it is said. From the words of the Able One, the great Lake Anavatapta, Comes the excellent explanation of the Regent, the stream of the Ganges. Taking just a portion, respectfully gathering with the fingertips of wondrous wisdom, Desiring to enjoy, busied with a dance of marvelous joy. Whatever pure goodness arises from this effort, Together with the merit accumulated in the three times, I dedicate it so that after death I may go before Maitreya, And that in all lives I may be embraced without separation. Thus, this concise explanation of the meaning of the Five Treatises of Maitreya, called "The Cloud of Offerings Pleasing to Maitreya," was composed with faith by the monk Shakya, a teacher from Chone, known as Shedup. The scribe was Ta'i Lhalung Lobsang Dondrup. Mangalam! A Concise Explanation of the Five Treatises of Maitreya, "The Cloud of Offerings Pleasing to Maitreya."
