A Summary of the Five Treatises of Maitreya: A Cloud of Offerings Pleasing to Maitreya. A Summary of the Five Treatises of Maitreya: A Cloud of Offerings Pleasing to Maitreya. This is the treatise called "A Summary of the Five Treatises of Maitreya: A Cloud of Offerings Pleasing to Maitreya." Homage to Shakyamuni. When the Subduer examined his retinue, he did not see a prince equal to you, so he empowered you as the sacred regent. I bow to the second Buddha, the Protector Maitreya. When the Buddha entrusted the great Dharma of the Mahayana to Mahakashyapa and others, they were unable to do so, but you received the Buddha's command and promised to proclaim the great lion's roar in all directions. You have taken up the burden of the Buddha's work, and with the five great commentaries, you have raised the victory banner of the teachings of the Able One, and your fame is blazing. Therefore, I am happy to explain your intention. Furthermore, in order to explain the intention of the Lord Maitreya, the Buddha, he composed five treatises: the two ornaments, the two distinctions, and the Treatise on the Sublime Continuum. Although many scholars have arisen to explain its intention, in order to make himself a connection to be held by Maitreya, he has already written treatises explaining the intention of the Ornament of Clear Realization and the Sublime Continuum. Here, I will first briefly mention the general meaning of the two. The Ornament of Clear Realization says: "The path of all-knowingness, whatever is explained from this, is what is said." This means that he intends to explain all the meanings of the three Prajnaparamita sutras, the extensive, the intermediate, and the concise, so he has summarized them into seventy topics. The first chapter of the Ornament of Clear Realization explains the ten dharmas that represent all-knowingness; the second chapter explains the eleven dharmas that represent the knowledge of the path; the third chapter explains the nine dharmas that represent the knowledge of the basis; the fourth chapter explains the eleven dharmas that represent the complete practice; the fifth chapter explains the eight dharmas that represent the peak practice; the sixth chapter explains the thirteen dharmas that represent the gradual practice; the seventh chapter explains the four dharmas that represent the instantaneous practice; and the eighth chapter explains the four dharmas that represent the fruit, the Dharmakaya. Thus, all the meanings of the Prajnaparamita sutras are included. The Sublime Continuum has various long and short sentences, and its beginning is: Buddha, Dharma, Sangha, element, enlightenment, qualities, Buddha's activity to the end, the body of all treatises, in brief.

As stated in "The Seven Vajra Places," it can be divided into four or five sections. The first section explains the Three Jewels and the realm of the Tathagatagarbha. The second section explains Bodhi. The third section explains qualities. The fourth section explains activities and the benefits of activities. The remaining parts explain the praises of these, showing benefits from other perspectives, the way of composing treatises, abandoning the act of abandoning the Dharma, dedicating the merits of composing the treatise, and concluding with the method of explanation. Among these, the realm of the Tathagatagarbha as the basis of practice and the Three Jewels as the fruit of practice are explained in the first chapter. Regarding what is to be practiced, from the perspective of others' continuums and one's own continuum, firstly, there are three: Bodhi, qualities, and activities. Having attained great Bodhi, one obtains sixty-four qualities and, through performing thirty-two activities, purifies the realm of sentient beings' continuums, and these are explained in the second, third, and fourth chapters respectively. The fifth chapter explains the benefits of these. Just as there is praise at the beginning of the Ornament of Clear Realization and dedication at the end of the Uttaratantra, the five Maitreya Dharmas were composed as a single unit, with the Ornament of Clear Realization at the beginning and the Uttaratantra at the end. However, both the Ornament of Clear Realization and the Uttaratantra explain the Madhyamaka view, while both the Sutra Ornament and the Distinguishing Middle and Extremes mainly explain according to the Yogacara view. Therefore, it is certain that the one who initiated the common initial tradition of both Madhyamaka and Yogacara was the venerable Maitreya himself. Now, we will briefly present the general meaning of the Sutra Ornament and the Distinguishing Middle and Extremes, and slightly explain the aspects of the six perfections that appear in the Sutra Ornament. The first of these three is that the Sutra Ornament's treatise is very extensive, and even if a brief general meaning is made, there is concern that it will become too much, so only a part will be explained. This treatise mainly explains the Yogacara view, and it is also an explanation of the overall intent of the Mahayana teachings, with verses of varying lengths and two volumes. This treatise has two parts: a general explanation and a slightly more detailed explanation. The first is that there are twenty-one chapters, with the first chapter giving a general explanation, the second chapter proving the Mahayana teachings, the third chapter taking refuge, and the fourth chapter
