The first of the five aspirations of power is: Through the power of being enslaved by an untamed, unruly mind, may all the countless non-virtuous deeds that bring about the unwanted fruit of suffering in the future, done under the sway of ignorance, be easily and effortlessly pacified! The second is: May the supreme long life, the great discriminating wisdom that can distinguish the words and meanings of the Victorious Ones' scriptures, faith in the Guru and the Three Jewels, karma and its effects, compassion for suffering beings, diligence in virtuous deeds, single-pointed concentration, generosity, discipline, patience, and in short, the qualities of scripture such as upholding the meaning of the sacred words, listening, explaining, debating, writing, and contemplating, and the fruits of such actions, such as faith, compassion, renunciation, bodhicitta, and correct view, all the qualities of realization that are antidotes to unfavorable conditions, increase more and more! The third is: May all the vast activities of power that please the Sugatas, which are the means to accomplish the state of perfect and complete enlightenment, be easily accomplished just as desired, according to one's wishes! Activities of power are those that can gather wealth, Dharma, and whatever else is appropriate. To have them accomplished just by wishing means: may they occur as desired, unless one does not wish them. The fourth is: When taming the mindstream, which is the nature of hearing, thinking, and meditating, may the strength and forces of all the root and branch elements belonging to the dark side, which strive to obstruct the true path, namely the hordes of demons and their retinues, be utterly destroyed by fierce actions! The term "peaceful activity" generally refers to acting in a gentle manner, but here it mainly refers to the activity of pacifying illnesses and evil spirits. The fifth is: By whose eyes am I

Just by seeing, hearing with the ears, remembering in the mind, and touching with the body, may I be able to fulfill all the wishes of all beings who act in this way. For example, just as a wish-fulfilling jewel and a wish-fulfilling tree, if someone truly prays to them, they fulfill all desires without any effort, may I be able to effortlessly accomplish the benefit of other sentient beings simply by being seen, and so on. Third, although many such aspiration prayers can be recited, fearing prolixity, to put it briefly, may this merit of doing good please all the noble spiritual friends, and may I perfectly obtain the intention of the Buddha, that is, by seeking extensive learning of realization, and by perfecting the practice of cultivation in the same way, may I be able to spread the teachings of the Buddhas—scriptural and realization teachings—in the ten directions through this power. This verse also shows the order of first relying on the guru, extensively learning, and then engaging in cultivation. Colophon: This work called "Praise to the Bhagavati Uṣṇīṣavijayā, Accomplishing Immortality" was written by the learned Gyalrongpa Losang Drakpa, at the bright snow mountain retreat of Yartreng. This is easy to understand. This praise is as follows: Furthermore, in many solitary places, Manjushri said, "Compose treatises such as these, which will benefit the teachings and beings." Tsongkhapa, who acted according to the command. I think this was done at the urging of the venerable one. Moreover, this deity is also the personal deity of Tsongkhapa himself. Said: Mother of all Buddhas, venerable Uṣṇīṣavijayā, all the praises and supplications are ripe, after the white rays of wisdom shine and open, offered to please the Bhagavati. By the virtue arising from this proper effort, in life after life, venerable Uṣṇīṣavijayā, with great love and affection, may she always hold me inseparable, and may I attain the state of omniscience from all places.

This was done at the urging of the abbot Jampa Rinchen. I myself had previously made commentaries on the other three great praises. Although the meaning of this one is not so difficult to understand, I had long had the desire to make a brief version, so I combined them. It was quickly completed by Drakpa Shedrup, a Shakya monk and master of scripture who manages both the mantra and philosophical seats of Chone in combination. The scribe for the printing is Kunga Norbu, a monk from Khru Shai, a retreatant with faith and discernment. Auspicious! Sarva Mangalam! All auspiciousness!) A concise and clear commentary on the words of the "Praise to the Victorious Goddess" that accomplishes immortality.
