Do not be confused. For the cycle of existence that includes birth, aging, sickness, and death, the desire to be liberated from it should be generated with special effort. Even if the desire for liberation arises only from the lower realms, it is not true renunciation. If there is a strong desire to be liberated from the entire cycle of existence, then he must have the intention to seek liberation, otherwise, even if he says, "I seek liberation," he does not possess the complete conditions. Therefore, merely seeking the status of gods and humans is not sufficient, but until Buddhahood is attained, in order to obtain a good basis for practicing the sacred Dharma, there is no contradiction in doing good deeds, making aspirations, etc. This is only done as an incidental activity of seeking liberation. For example, a person suffering from thirst primarily seeks to drink, and for this purpose, he also incidentally seeks a container. Merely seeking food and clothing is not seeking samsara, just as Arhats also have needs for food and clothing, etc. This is because, in temporary situations, it is necessary to protect the body from heat, cold, shame, etc., so it is not something that can be abandoned. Therefore, even if it is said not to seek the perfections of samsara, one must carefully distinguish whether it is with attachment or not. Do not be confused. The teacher Arhat and his retinue entered the city for alms, accepting food and other offerings from others. Merely accepting offerings does not mean seeking these things. Great beings who have accumulated powerful merit, even if they do not have worldly wealth, it is not because of the karma of poverty, but because they do not cling to it. Those who do not have worldly wealth and do not seek wealth are not necessarily all good, just like pretas and large and small animals. Even if a renunciate has wealth and gives generously, which arises from the power of merit, there is no fault, just like the Gyalwang Rinpoche and the Panchen Lama. However, for a person who wants liberation, having few desires and being content is best, because too much searching and activity is a cause that hinders practice. For the entire cycle of existence that includes happy and unhappy realms, the desire to be liberated from it, merely having the desire to be liberated, although one is a person who wants liberation, is not enough, one must generate the Bodhicitta to attain perfect Buddhahood.

Without great compassion, the mind of enlightenment does not arise. May all sentient beings who suffer have the wish to be free from suffering and to have happiness. Generate compassion that desires to protect them. Although compassion that desires to protect sentient beings from the three kinds of suffering is vast and pervasive, it is especially beneficial to take upon oneself the suffering that is afflicted by the suffering of feeling, along with its causes. Therefore, one should repeatedly cultivate this diligently. May all sentient beings always have the joy of being free from suffering and the desire to establish them in happiness. Although the object of loving-kindness is vast, it is said that the thought of establishing them in unsurpassed bliss is the most supreme. The intention of increasing aspiration is also included in this. In order to settle all sentient beings in perfect enlightenment, one's own self should attain perfect enlightenment. When the desire to attain perfect enlightenment arises, it is the mind of enlightenment that is born. If the unfeigned desire to protect all sentient beings from suffering has not arisen, although the desire to attain perfect enlightenment may arise, that mind is only under the control of self-interest. Therefore, let alone generating the mind of enlightenment, the desire to attain perfect enlightenment is not complete. Therefore, for the sake of sentient beings, one should strive for enlightenment. The view of realizing selflessness, when it is merely a true attainment, is said to be the cause of liberation, so this view is what should be sought. This also applies to all subtle and coarse phenomena, and especially to emptiness of inherent existence. All acceptance and rejection are most reasonable, the excellent system of the Consequentialist view, according to the tradition of Je Tsongkhapa, like the Middle Way, with countless categories of reasoning, or abbreviated, but seeking in the direction of the pure path. If it arises in connection with calm abiding, it is extremely wonderful. As this principle is certain to be difficult, one should settle and contemplate as much as possible. By contemplating and meditating in this way, even in each moment, the imprints of liberation are gradually planted, but to become the cause of unsurpassed enlightenment, it is necessary to rely on the diligence of the Buddha and the two kinds of special dedication. Therefore, one should strive for this. Then, in order to enter the six perfections and the three trainings, one should take the bodhisattva vows and train in practices such as generosity. Giving alms directly, or as stated in the sutras and the stages of the path, giving one's own body, possessions, and all virtues to others.
