Homage! To the Bhagavan who acts for the benefit of beings in the degenerate age, I prostrate to the feet of the Medicine Buddha, Lapis Lazuli Light! As the Buddha said, hearing, reciting, and remembering your name brings immeasurable benefits. Now, I pray that you will accomplish for us the recitation of your name. In particular, may the harm to body and mind in this life, and the suffering and pain of diseases, be pacified. At the time of death and transference, may we be born without hindrance in the pure land of the Lapis Lazuli Light Buddha. Beyond a thousand Buddhafields in the east, there is the splendor of the pure Abhirati Pure Land. Surrounded by countless Bodhisattvas, I prostrate to the Bhagavan Akshobhya Buddha! Just the sunlight of reciting your name completely purifies the darkness of the two obscurations accumulated from beginningless time. May it fully bloom the thousand-petaled lotus of higher realms and definite goodness through thorough purification. By the fire of reciting your Dharani Mantra King, may the firewood of the causes for rebirth in the lower realms be burned like a pile of grass burned by the fire of the eon. May we be purified and born in a pure land. In particular, may we be born in Abhirati from this life, and after being born at your feet, may we uphold all the Dharma as you wish, like a Bodhisattva elephant. Beyond countless Buddhafields in the west, there is the pure Land of Bliss, Sukhavati. Always abiding there, the supreme guide of impure lands, I prostrate to the teacher Amitabha Buddha! Because the light of your body illuminates countless realms, you are called Boundless Light, Amitabha. Because your life is immeasurable and long, you are called Amitayus, I prostrate to you! Just hearing, reciting, and remembering your name purifies the causes of rebirth in unfavorable states and experiencing suffering. I prostrate to you who causes us to be born in the supreme pure land that you have accomplished. May the obstacles to life be pacified by your power. At the time of death and transference, may we quickly be born miraculously in the center of a lotus in that supreme Land of Bliss. May we make offerings to the Buddhas and their retinues, and listen to the Dharma. May we enter the conduct of the Bodhisattvas in this way, and become guides for beings in impure lands. May we act like Avalokiteshvara and Mahasthamaprapta, and quickly attain Buddhahood. These were composed by the Shakya monk named Beshe Drup.
