A Compilation of the Sutra on Distinguishing Karma, etc., and the Meaning of the End of Life is present. Homage to Mañjuśrīghoṣāya (藏文:ན་མོ་མཉྫུ་ཤྲཱི་གྷོ་ཥཱ་ཡ།,梵文天城体:नमः मञ्जुश्रीघोषाय,梵文罗马拟音:namaḥ mañjuśrīghoṣāya,汉语字面意思:敬礼妙吉祥智语). Without confusing the ripening of black and white karma, the way the infallible results of karma are separately revealed, the supreme refuge who teaches by seeing things as they are, I bow to the compassionate, incomparable teacher. Although the noble ones have mastered the supreme, uncontaminated wisdom, they are not subject to the power of karma. However, those who have not realized the nature of reality and only see this shore are carried by the river of karma into the ocean of samsara. Therefore, although there are many classifications of karma and afflictions in the sutras, one should diligently engage in the interpretation of the sutras that individually explain the nature of karma with faith. As explained in the Abhidharmakośa and other texts, I have already explained the classification of white and black paths elsewhere. Here, I will gather and explain in order the Sutra on Distinguishing Karma and the Sutra on Transforming Karma, as well as some meanings from other sutras, as appropriate. The classifications of karma are: karma that leads to a short life, karma that leads to a long life, karma that leads to many illnesses, karma that leads to few illnesses, karma that leads to ugliness, karma that leads to beauty, karma that leads to small power, karma that leads to great power, karma that leads to birth in a low caste, karma that leads to birth in a noble caste, karma that leads to poverty, karma that leads to wealth, karma that leads to little wisdom, karma that leads to great wisdom, karma that leads to rebirth in hell, karma that leads to rebirth as an animal, karma that leads to rebirth as a hungry ghost, karma that leads to rebirth as an asura, karma that leads to rebirth as a human, karma that leads to rebirth as a god in the form realm, karma that leads to rebirth as a god in the formless realm, karma that is certain to be born, karma that is not certain to be born, karma that ripens in another place, karma that is done but not accumulated, karma that is accumulated but not done, karma that is done and accumulated, karma that is neither done nor accumulated, karma that requires one to complete their life after being born in hell, karma that leads to liberation immediately after being born there, karma that is pleasant at first but unpleasant later, karma that is pleasant at first and pleasant later, karma that leads to becoming miserly, karma that is wealthy and generous, karma that is wealthy but becomes miserly, karma that is poor but generous, karma that is poor and miserly

The karma that causes various kinds of results. The body is comfortable but the mind is not. The body is uncomfortable but the mind is comfortable. Both body and mind are comfortable. Neither of them is comfortable. Life is exhausted but karma is not. Karma is exhausted but life is not. Both are exhausted. Neither is exhausted. Even though born in a bad place, one obtains a beautiful form and good complexion. Even though born in a bad place, one's form and complexion become ugly. Having shown the distinctions in this way, the identification of these is as follows: First, the karma that causes a short life is: killing sentient beings, causing others to kill, praising killing, envying killing, causing death from the womb, causing others to cause death, thinking of killing enemies, being happy when a friend dies, killing livestock, cutting down trees used for sacrifices, watching others fight and wanting to watch, these ten. These ten not only cause a short life but also cause many illnesses. The karma that causes a long life is: abandoning killing, praising those who abandon killing, being happy, freeing sentient beings who are to be killed, protecting fearful sentient beings, helpless sentient beings, and the sick, cultivating compassion and love, giving food and clothing to the poor, etc. These cause a long life and freedom from illness. The karma that causes many illnesses is: beating with sticks and palms, causing others to beat, being happy about it, making the minds of parents and holy beings unhappy, being happy when unfriendly people are sick or their illnesses are not cured, giving wrong medicine and indigestible food, etc. The karma that causes few illnesses is: the opposite of the former, from not beating with sticks, etc., to giving digestible food. The karma that causes an ugly appearance is: being often angry with others, holding grudges, being fierce, speaking badly to holy beings and parents, etc., making the foundations of stupas and temples ugly, extinguishing the lamps in front of images, mocking sentient beings with ugly appearances, not being clean, etc. The karma that causes a beautiful appearance is: being patient and not angry, not holding grudges, up to being clean, the opposite of the former. The karma that causes little power is: being jealous of others' gains, not liking their gains, being happy when they do not gain, father
