That is heedlessness. The eighteenth is the mental factor that makes one forget the virtuous object, which is forgetfulness. The nineteenth is the mental factor of not knowing what to do or entering absentmindedly, which is non-alertness. The twentieth is the mental factor that causes the mind to wander away from the virtuous object, which is distraction. In the sixth category, the mental factor of a nature that can change without being definitely one of the three: virtuous, non-virtuous, or neutral, is the characteristic or nature of changeability. The divisions are: sleep, regret, conception, and analysis, these four. The first is the mental factor that completely gathers the body and mind, which is sleep. The second is the mental factor of the mind dwelling on what has been done, which is regret. The third is the mental factor that has a coarse aspect towards the object, which is conception out of the two: conception and analysis. The fourth is the mental factor that engages with a subtle aspect towards the object, which is analysis out of those two. These are mainly according to the upper Abhidharma system. In the Abhidharma-kosa, it says: ten mental aggregates, ten virtuous ground aggregates, six great affliction ground aggregates, two non-virtuous ground aggregates, ten minor affliction ground aggregates, and eight indeterminate ground aggregates, these six categories. The first ten are: feeling, discrimination, intention, interest, contact, intelligence, mindfulness, attention, ascertainment, and concentration. The second ten are: faith, conscientiousness, pliancy, equanimity, self-respect, shame, non-attachment, non-hatred, non-harmfulness, and diligence. The third six are: ignorance, heedlessness, laziness, lack of faith, dullness, and excitement. The fourth two are: shamelessness and lack of shame. The fifth ten are: anger, resentment, concealment, jealousy, annoyance, concealment, stinginess, deceit, pride, and harmfulness. The sixth eight are: desire, anger, pride, and doubt, and the four changeable ones: conception, analysis, sleep, and regret. Separately, there are forty-six. How are the entities of these? It is known by what was said before. These are as they appear in the upper and lower Abhidharma, and there are others that appear in the Vinaya-ksudraka, etc. This also, by the two, Losang Samdrub, who is proficient in the ten scriptures, and the abbot Jamyang Senge, were encouraged with faith.

Therefore, when you wish to carve the old version, thinking that it might be useful to other newcomers, someone named "Study and Practice" has summarized and arranged it incidentally. If you want to elaborate on the characteristics and arising of afflictions, etc., you should also refer to the root commentary of the Abhidharma-samuccaya and the root commentary of the Abhidharmakosa. Said: All the Dharma teachings spoken by the Victorious One, How much is the limit of their number? Since even omniscient wisdom cannot measure it, Therefore its subjects are also immeasurable. Therefore, from the great ocean of scriptures, Only a portion has been arranged for the sake of benefiting others. Whatever merit there is from printing with faith, May it all be dedicated to all sentient beings. May they enter the vast ocean of limitless teachings, Washing away all the stains of ignorance and delusion, In order to easily enter the state of eternal bliss and unsurpassed enlightenment. Auspicious! Auspicious! Clearly showing the various topics of many doctrines through names, making the intelligent happy.
