Therefore, sexual misconduct leads to downfall. That is, from the moment of initiating touch in that area until the ultimate pleasure is not experienced, it is a major offense. From the arising of intention until it is not manifested in body and speech, it should be restrained. Once manifested, up to the point of engaging in the act, offenses requiring confession are generated. Moreover, the very basis of downfall requires the intention to engage in the act and the presence of awareness in its natural state as conditions. Otherwise, various major and minor offenses will occur, and these should be combined with the remaining offenses and others as appropriate. Second, the downfall of taking what is not given refers to stealing or causing others to steal, or robbing the property of someone who is not the same as oneself, for one's own benefit, with the intention of acquiring it. Regarding value, in India, stealing an item equivalent to one-fourth of a Karshapana is considered a downfall. Here, due to differences in place and time, the value may vary, but roughly, stealing an item worth three silver sho or more constitutes a downfall. Stealing for others, stealing inanimate objects, and not returning borrowed items lead to various major and minor offenses. Third, the downfall of taking life refers to intentionally killing a human being or a fetus, etc., with weapons or poison, or causing others to kill, when the consciousness is not deranged; the downfall occurs at the moment of one's own death. Killing without the intention to kill does not constitute a fundamental downfall. Fourth, the downfall of false claims refers to falsely claiming to possess qualities difficult to attain by humans, such as meditative absorptions and formless attainments, or special psychic powers and signs of accomplishment, or claiming to see deities when one has not, or accepting such claims made by others about oneself; these all constitute a downfall. Therefore, predicting the past and future without psychic abilities, unless motivated by exceptional altruism, also falls into this category. Second, there are thirteen remaining offenses against the Sangha. The first is the remaining offense of emitting semen: when semen is emitted from a part of the body other than the three sexual organs of another person, or even from one's own finger, etc.
