May renunciation, Bodhicitta, correct view, etc., quickly arise in my being. Through its power, in all lifetimes, may I be liberated from unfavorable conditions and obtain a body endowed with leisure. May I always meet virtuous friends, and may I uphold all the Sutras and Tantras, without exception. Thus, it is said. Alternatively, in the first three branches, with "All Buddhas assembled," etc., and "The Lama is the Buddha," etc., "The body is unchanging," etc., and "Profound view," etc., and "Vast scriptures," etc., and "Buddha all-seeing," etc., and "Name excellent jewel," etc., and "Corresponding aspirations," etc., and "Beings of the ten directions," etc., and "Making light," etc., and "Inexpressible, unthinkable," etc., and "Arising darkness," etc., and "Manjushri holding," etc., and "Abandonment and wisdom," etc., and "Teacher Buddha," etc., and "Practitioners," etc., and "Glorious Kalachakra, venerable Tara, victorious goddess," etc., and "Bhagavan," etc., prostrate as appropriate. From "Excellent flowers" to "I offer," and offering with self and others' body, speech, etc. With "Deeds of the body," etc., and "From beginningless time," etc., confession can also be done. The remaining branches are as before. If the seven branches are condensed very much, it is done with "As many as," etc. Among these, prostration and offering, urging, requesting, and rejoicing are the branches of accumulating favorable conditions and merit, while confession is the purification of obstacles and sins. Dedication is the method of increasing virtues from small to large and from few to many, and the fruit never being exhausted. Moreover, if one rejoices in others who have qualities and virtues or who do good, and rejoices in their good deeds, one will obtain great benefits. It is said that if one cultivates rejoicing in one's own good deeds, the good deeds will increase. From this, it is shown that if one is jealous and displeased with others and their good deeds, or if one later regrets one's own good deeds, one's own merit and virtues will diminish. If these branches are condensed, they can be condensed into the two: accumulation of merit and purification of obscurations. The two are not contradictory either. Thus, if one strives long in the seven branches, the great purposes of temporary and ultimate benefit will be accomplished, and especially

Furthermore, the arising of even a small portion of the qualities of the condensed path in one's mindstream nowadays depends on accumulating merit and purifying obscurations in the presence of a support. As stated in the Great Treatise on the Stages of the Path (Lamrim Chenmo): "If there is no accompanying cause of accumulating merit and purifying obscurations, which are conducive to the arising of the path in the mindstream, even if one strives only for the cause of generation, focusing on the object, it is extremely difficult for the path to arise. Therefore, one must purify the mindstream with the seven branches that condense the essence of accumulation and purification." Thus, by the power of creating virtue in a sacred field, the power of wisdom in the stages of the path increases. If one cannot grasp the words when listening, cannot understand the meaning when thinking, and cannot generate it in one's mindstream when meditating, then relying on the power of the field is the key instruction when one's wisdom is very weak. So it is said. Spoken: The meaning of all the scriptures and commentaries, Divided into superior, inferior, and intermediate distinctions, Although there are many stages of taking them into practice, The essence is all condensed into the seven branches. This method was also practiced by many previous spiritual friends, At all times, they made it their main practice, In these degenerate times, we, Who are engaged in negative actions, Why should we not take it as the very essence to be entered? Therefore, with the altruistic intention to benefit others, Whatever merit I have accumulated from this effort, May it benefit the teachings and beings for a long time, And ultimately, may it be a cause for attaining Buddhahood. This was written by the Shakya monk, who is called "Explainer of Scriptures," at the request of the steadfast and wise Paljor Gyatso, in accordance with what is appropriate, whether extensive or concise. May it benefit others! May this also cause the precious teachings of the omniscient Victor to flourish and remain for a long time! Mangalam! The two types of practice sequence and the method of performing the seven branches that come from the Stages of the Path, etc.
