That potter who exists does not contradict saying, "I made that previous pot," because without distinguishing each of the former and latter times, there is a potter's "I" that follows both the former and latter times of the potter, and both the former and latter potters are parts of it. Therefore, the latter potter thinking, "I made that previous pot," is because of the power of the "I" that possesses parts, that's why it is remembered that way. But the latter potter of the present time, I myself, does not remember saying, "I made that previous pot," because the former and latter potters contradict each other due to the difference in time. If they do not contradict, then the two would become one. For example, when saying, "I did this and that before, and I will do this and that later," the person of today's time is a part of that "I" that follows all of his former and latter times. When that part does this and that action, the whole is also said to have done this and that action. But it is not the case that only the person of today did all the former and latter actions. If it were so, then the person of today's time would have to exist in all former and latter times, not only would old and young become one, but also fire would become permanent. Similarly, the person of this life would also have to exist in all former and latter lives, because the person of this time also makes the statement, "I took this birth before, and I will take this and that birth later." But that cannot exist in all former and latter lives, because if it did, it would follow that the basis of the six realms of beings would be the same. The craftsman who was previously building the house is the cause of that house that he made, but the craftsman who exists at the time the house is finished is not the cause of that house that he made before, but he is the cause of the houses that he will make. Similarly, the mother is not the cause of the son she has already given birth to, but the mother who exists at the same time as that son is not the cause of that son's birth. So, why is she called a mother? There is no problem, because considering that she is the mother who nourishes the continuation of what went into giving birth before, it is not contradictory.

For example, it is like saying that the meat or head of a dead sheep is the meat and head of a sheep. When it is not examined, it seems reasonable, but after examination and analysis, it is not the meat and head of a sheep, because it is not the meat and head of a sentient being. There is pervasion, because if it is a sheep, it must be a sentient being. Similarly, for the pillars of a house that have already been made and are about to be made, it is also said that they are the pillars, so although worldly names are accepted, where is there a true meaning for all things? The glorious Chandrakirti says in the Madhyamakāvatāra: If the world is a valid cognition, then what is needed? What is the use of the path of the noble ones? Even fools do not have reasoning. It is like that. If it is not like that, when a son dies, if there is still a mother who gives birth to herself, there will be many faults such as the reversal of cause and effect, etc. Here, I will only mention a little. As explained above, I have explained how the view of Je Rinpoche is established, according to my understanding, together with other knowers, so I will not elaborate here. Thus, although there are many differences in cause and effect, if one can understand well the cause and effect of white and black karma and take and abandon accordingly, that is the essence of the key. The way karma produces results is different. Among white and black karmas, some karmas produce results immediately, some karmas produce results in the next life or after the next life, and some karmas produce their own ripened results even if they are separated by kalpas. Furthermore, from various karmas, various results arise, and various bodies, various migrations, and various places are accomplished. That is to say, the karma that accomplishes the bodies, limbs, minor limbs, senses, and various internal and external structures of beings, in general, and in particular, such as the shapes and colors of peacock feathers, etc., from various karmas, individual results arise without being mixed, and the results that arise from the power of aspiration and miracles, because this is the nature of karma or dependent origination, it is also inconceivable. Dividing karma into action and object, if it is an object of action, it is not necessarily karma, for example, agriculture and commerce, etc., although they are divided into two types of karma, in general, they are not karma. Karma is the cause of obtaining results such as liberation, but not the generative cause.
