In short, the impure container world and the sentient beings within it arise from the cause of karma. As the glorious Chandrakirti said in the *Madhyamakavatara*: "All beings are born from karma." And the *Abhidharmakosha* also says: "The manifold world arises from karma." Therefore, if these white karmas are only grasped by the thought of seeking peace and happiness for oneself, they will become the cause for attaining inferior enlightenment. But if they are grasped by the mind of enlightenment and the dedication to perfect enlightenment, they will become the cause for attaining Buddhahood. Eighth, there are two parts: the difference between projecting and completing karma, and the timing of when the results of which karma will ripen first. First, as it is said in the *Ratnavali*: "From non-virtue comes all suffering, and likewise all bad migrations. From virtue comes all good migrations, and happiness in all lives." Therefore, virtuous karma projects one into the good migrations, and it is impossible for it to project one into the bad migrations. Non-virtuous karma projects one into the bad migrations, and it is impossible for it to project one into the good migrations. This is because it is impossible for the ripening of white and black karmas to be mixed. For example, just as various seeds of barley and wheat do not produce rice as a result. There is no certainty with regard to completing karma. There are six possibilities: the projecting karma is virtuous and the completing karma is also virtuous; the projecting karma is non-virtuous and the completing karma is also non-virtuous; the projecting karma is virtuous but the completing karma is non-virtuous; the projecting karma is non-virtuous but the completing karma is virtuous; the projecting karma is virtuous but the completing karma is mixed; and the projecting karma is non-virtuous but the completing karma is mixed. That is, experiencing mostly happiness for a long time in a good migration is the first; experiencing great suffering in a bad migration is the second; experiencing great suffering in a good migration is the third; experiencing great happiness in a bad migration is the fourth; experiencing a mixture of happiness and suffering in a good migration is the fifth; and experiencing a mixture of happiness and suffering in a bad migration is the sixth. Furthermore, although one is born in a good migration due to virtuous karma, being incomplete in limbs, having an ugly appearance, having a short life, having many illnesses, and being poor are caused by non-virtuous karma. Being born as an Asura or an animal due to non-virtuous karma

Even if born in the preta realm, having wealth like that of the gods is due to virtuous deeds. Through this example, one should also understand other situations. The Vaibhashika school asserts that one projecting karma can only cause one rebirth, while a completing karma can have multiple results; also, multiple karmas cannot cause only one rebirth. However, the Compendium states: There is karma where one action causes one body, karma where one action causes multiple bodies, karma where multiple actions cause one body, and karma where multiple actions cause multiple bodies. Here, we also agree with this, because it is logical that one powerful karma can cause many bodies, and many weak karmas can cause one body. For example, the commentary on the Black Enemy states: Whoever does not regard as a teacher the one from whom they hear even a single verse, will be born as a dog a hundred times and will be born as a leper. This proves it. However, it is necessary to distinguish between quiescence and analysis. Secondly, the maturation of some powerful karmas will occur in this life or the next, but there can be intervals of kalpas, etc., between some karmas and the result of their maturation. As the sutra says: Actions do not perish even after hundreds of kalpas; when the conditions and time are right, they will mature into results for sentient beings. Therefore, the way the maturation of many accumulated virtuous and non-virtuous actions manifests is: generally, the heaviest karma matures first. If the weight is the same, then the karma that manifests at the time of death matures first. If that is also the same, then the karma that one is most accustomed to matures first. If that is also the same, then the karma that was done first matures first. As the commentary on the Treasury of Knowledge says: Among karmas in samsara, whichever is heaviest, whichever is nearest, whichever one is accustomed to, whichever was done first, from these, the earlier one matures earlier. Ninth, if someone thinks that the basis at the time of doing the karma has perished, and a long time has passed, then the karma done before should also have perished, so how will its result mature later? The answer to that is, as explained extensively in the great Madhyamaka treatises, regarding karma, I will write separately about abandoning the extremes of permanence and annihilation, so I will not discuss it here. To give just an example, that karma
