"The Adornment of a Precious Garland of Recitation Instructions". "The Adornment of a Precious Garland of Recitation Instructions". Herein is "The Adornment of a Precious Garland of Recitation Instructions". Homage to the Guru, inseparable from the three, Mañjuśrī, the sole father of all Buddhas; Yamāntaka, who performs the dance of fierce wrath; and Tsongkhapa, who manifests as the peaceful and wrathful in human form. Here, the method of accomplishing the recitation and practice of the deities of the Yidam, along with its branches, will be explained in three parts: a general overview, a specific explanation of the method of reciting Yamāntaka, and additional points. Firstly, in general, there are two types of recitation: common and supreme recitation. As stated in the Later Tantra of the Guhyasamāja Tantra: "Through the distinction of common and supreme, recitation is considered to be of two types." Furthermore, according to the Anuttarayoga Tantra, it refers to the yoga of meditating on both the generation and completion stages. According to the three lower tantras, all yoga of deities with and without signs is called recitation. In addition, recitation involves both meditating on the mandala of the deity and reciting its mantra. The former is the main practice, as stated in the Great Stages of Mantra: "Generating the pride of the deity and clear appearance is the main part of recitation." However, the act of verbal recitation is named recitation in the sense that a general term is applied to a specific instance. Why is it called recitation? It is so called because it brings one closer to the deity that is to be attained or accomplished. Generally, the gateway to the Mantrayana is from obtaining a qualified empowerment. After obtaining that, it is necessary to first perform the recitation of the deities of the mandala. Without doing so, it is not permissible to perform empowerment, consecration, fire offerings, etc., and it is difficult to accomplish peaceful and other activities. As stated in the Stages of Mantra: "Engaging in empowerment, etc., without prior recitation is like suppressing oneself." Also, in the Garland it is said: "Without recitation, there is no accomplishment." Verbal recitation requires a rosary, and its distinctions are as follows: In the Saṃbhuṭi Tantra, it says: For pacifying, use earth, pearls, bones, stones, and jewels, etc.; for increasing, use gold, silver, copper, coral, sandalwood, and lotus seeds, etc.; for subjugating, use saffron...

And other things made from fine fragrances. For fierce actions, it is said to be made from rakshas, lung thang, and human bones, etc. For all actions, the common auspicious thing is Bodhicitta, because it says in the same text: In pacifying, increasing, subjugating, and accomplishing, Bodhicitta performs all actions. Regarding the number, generally in the "Union Tantra" it says: There are fifty practices of mantras, subjugation is half of that. One hundred for pacifying. Similarly, eight more for increasing. Sixteen for accomplishing. It is as it is said, and there is no specific determination. Furthermore, in the "Mantra Sequence," it also explains how to expand the consecration of the rosary thread and the rosary. In the context of the Unsurpassed, the abbreviated consecration is explained as transforming one's own speech into a vajra. From the immeasurable palace of the expanding jewel, the mantra "Om Rutsi Ra Mani Prawartaye Hum," if recited seven times in the morning and applied to the rosary, it is said that the transformation is very great. Generally, it is good to do this at the beginning of reciting any mantra. In the "Union Tantra" and others, there is also a method of blessing the rosary by reciting "Om Pate Pate Maha Jnanam Sarva Buddha Maha Bhave Hum Hum Hum Ho Ho Ho Ah Kha Svaha." The method of holding it is, in the "Vajra Dakini" it says: For pacifying, place it on the index finger. For increasing, move it with the middle finger. Although it appears as such, in practice, it does not seem that this distinction is made much. How to perform the extensive and concise Abhisamaya before recitation is arranged as it appears in the "Mantra Sequence." In that same text, it says: For that, one should do four sessions. It is taught in many tantras such as "Hevajra" and "Abhisamayalankara," and many treatises such as sutra mixtures. The four sessions are, Jalandharipa says: The sequence called the four-session blessing is: dawn, noon, afternoon, and night, which is the sequence of meditation. As explained by Menyaksha, the method of performing the four sessions is like that. If one wonders whether or not to make a distinction between extensive and concise for the other three sessions after doing the first session in the morning as previously explained, Lawapa says: In the first session, apply all the rituals, and in the intervals of the noon and afternoon sessions, one's self transforms into light, transforms into Hum, and completely merges into it, becoming the mandala of the support and the supported.
