A Clear Explanation of the Essence of the King of Tantras, the Meaning of the True Utterance of Names A Clear Explanation of the Essence of the King of Tantras, the Meaning of the True Utterance of Names A Clear Explanation of the Essence of the King of Tantras, the Meaning of the True Utterance of Names is present. Namo Guru Manjughoshaya (藏文,梵文天城体,guru mañjughoṣāya, 导师妙音). Perfectly accomplished from the realm of pure two accumulations, adorned with a garland of pure names and examples. In accordance with the realm of countless beings to be tamed, it proclaims countless collections of Dharma from all directions. Possessing the supreme vision of the boundless nature of dependent origination. May the teacher of gods and humans, the chief of the Shakyas, be beautiful at the crown of gods and humans! The collection of wisdom and compassion of all Sugatas, A master of games who embodies the youthful prince. In countless realms, known as the great treasure of wisdom, I prostrate to your well-known feet! All the boundless Buddhas unanimously Praise you as the possessor of power and strength. Lord Vajradhara, the master of all holders of secret mantras and vidyas, Protect me! From the net of illusion of Manjugosha's three secrets, The Dharma king, the successor of the well-gone Buddhas. I respectfully bow to all the direct and indirect lineage holders, including the omniscient Lama Tsongkhapa. Although it is extremely difficult to fathom the treasury of Vajra words, Even if the tip of a child's mind cannot open it, With the sharp weapons of the well-spoken words of many scholars, I will untie the knots that bind the difficult points of words and meanings. Here, the King of all Tantras, the True Utterance of Names, is the Dharma to be explained. This has two parts: showing the general framework and explaining the specific meaning. First, regarding this tantra: By whom was it spoken? Where? When was it spoken? That is, our teacher himself, at the great stupa of Shri Dhanyakataka in the south of India, at the time of speaking the Kalachakra Tantra, spoke this great root tantra, the Tantra of the Net of Illusion. The True Utterance of Names is extracted from that tantra. Although its essence belongs to the Unsurpassed Tantra, if it is done according to the order of treatises explaining the intention, there are three ways of explaining it: Kalachakra, Unsurpassed General Approach, and the direction of Yoga Tantra.

Everything is not contradictory to the meaning of the words here. For example, each word of the Guhyasamaja Tantra has many different explanations with six limits and four modes. It is said that this text has one hundred and sixty-two verses, and some different translations appear. Although there are many sequences of Chinese commentaries on this, the Tibetan commentary is only seen as one written by Je Gendun Gyatso in accordance with the Kalachakra. So, which should be followed here to explain? Mainly based on the common way of Highest Yoga Tantra, the Chinese commentaries are mainly selected according to what is appropriate for the occasion and easy to explain. If the Kalachakra and the teachings are mainly followed, it will be difficult to understand due to the different systems. Moreover, these Vajra words are different from others and seem very easy to understand. How can someone like me explain it with my own power? However, relying on the instructions of the wise, I will explain it briefly with various straightforward and definitive explanations as much as I can. Second, regarding the meaning of the chapter, there are three points: the meaning of the title, the homage of the translation, and the meaning of the text. The first point is: among the four languages in India, in Sanskrit, the name of this text is Āryamañjuśrīnāmasaṃgīti, which, when translated into Tibetan, is "The True Proclamation of the Name of the Holy Manjushri." Ārya (藏文,梵文天城体:आर्य,梵文罗马拟音:ārya,Holy) means holy. Mañjuśrī (藏文,梵文天城体:मञ्जुश्री,梵文罗马拟音:mañjuśrī,Gentle Glory) means Gentle Glory. Nāma (藏文,梵文天城体:नाम,梵文罗马拟音:nāma,Name) means name. Saṃgīti (藏文,梵文天城体:संगीति,梵文罗马拟音:saṃgīti,True Proclamation) means true proclamation. The second point is: Homage to the Holy Manjushri Kumara, which is the homage made by the translator for the sake of meaning. Third, regarding the meaning of the text, there are two points: First, it will generally be explained according to the way of having thirteen chapters. This text also has two kinds of brief explanations of questions and answers, and a detailed explanation of the nature of the answers to the questions. The first way is divided into chapters of questions and answers. The first part is from "Then, the glorious Vajradhara" to "You should listen with one-pointed mind." Here there are seven aspects such as who asked the question. First, the words "Thus I have heard" do not appear directly here, because this text is a part of the sixty thousand great magical nets, so it was said at the beginning of that tantra.
