Instructions and Oral Teachings on the First Stage of Glorious Vajrabhairava Instructions and Oral Teachings on the First Stage of Glorious Vajrabhairava Instructions and Oral Teachings on the First Stage of Glorious Vajrabhairava, entitled "Mirror Illuminating All Emerging Images." Namo Guru Vajrabhairavaya. Mañjuśrī, the embodiment of the wisdom aggregate of countless Buddhas, completely gathered into one. To tame the Yamas, internal, external, and secret, you perform the fierce and wrathful dance. Bhagavan, Lord of the Enemy of Time, inseparable from him, Omniscient Tsongkhapa. Bless me to be held inseparable in the center of my heart at all times. The doctrine and realization of the second Lobsang Gyalwa, Holding the victory banner of the Able One's teachings at the peak of the excellent mansion, To all the assemblies of fortunate, well-written youths, I bow to the spiritual friends, the gods of inspiration. The essential heart of the king of tantras, the path of the first stage, Of all the great, ultimate, unsurpassed tantras, Which is the chief, Yamāntaka, Based on the holy words, I will explain here. Here, explaining the nature of the first stage of glorious Vajrabhairava, there are two parts: a general explanation outlining the essential points, and a detailed explanation focusing on specific aspects. The first is: The state of Buddhahood, which is the union of the wisdom of great bliss, free from obscurations and spontaneously arising, achieved through single-pointed concentration on emptiness, pacifying the elaborations of dualistic appearances, and the two bodies, which are forms of faces and hands composed solely of wind and mind, inseparable in essence, is the main subject expressed by the unsurpassed tantras, and the ultimate goal to be attained by those to be trained. Moreover, at the ground stage, it is accomplished by relying on the very subtle innate body and mind of sentient beings. What are the innate mind and body like? To put it briefly, first, the mind is: When it manifests itself, it has the appearance of an object like directly realizing emptiness, free from the extremes of elaboration. It follows the continuum of all sentient beings without interruption from beginningless time. Its essence is pure, clear awareness, unborn in the nature of defilement. If it is under the influence of karma and afflictions, it is born in the states of misery and cyclic existence,

If one possesses excellent skillful means, one can also generate the qualities of the self-resultant Buddha. For example, one's own nature is not tainted by defilements. For example, good gold, when mixed with rust, does not have its own nature mixed with rust, and can be separated by others. Similarly, water, even when mixed with turbidity, can be separated from it on its own. The light of the sun and the wind, no matter what they touch, clean or unclean, do not mix with it on their own and can be separated. Although they are temporarily related to their faults and virtues, their nature cannot be changed by their causes. Similarly, the subtle innate mind, even when accompanied by defilements, does not arise as the nature of defilements, but remains in a state where it can be separated from defilements, and will manifest at the time of the clear light of death. Secondly, the subtle body is the extremely subtle wind that is of the same nature as the extremely subtle mind and serves as its mount, and it exists inseparably from that mind. The ultimate fruit of union, which is attained by relying on such a basis for practice, and the path to attain it, are fully explained by Vajradhara in the unsurpassed tantras. They are not explained in the other lower tantra classes and the common sutras. In general, there are six divisions of unsurpassed tantras, but here, taking Yamantaka as the main focus, the extensive root tantra of glorious Vajrabhairava, which explains it in this way, has one hundred thousand shlokas. Although it exists in the land of Oddiyana Dakinis, it has not been translated into the languages of India and Tibet. What was produced by Master Lalita from the extensive tantra is what is now known as the Seven Sections. The explanatory tantra is known as the Three Sections, which clearly explains the key points of the illusory wheel as explained in the root tantra. In general, there are three forms of Yamantaka: Red, Black, and Terrifier. That is, when Manjushri is slightly wrathful, he is Black Enemy; when he is very wrathful, he is Red Yamantaka; and when he is extremely wrathful, he is Vajrabhairava. Their tantras also belong to the category of unsurpassed father tantras. There are also methods of practice such as the Single Hero, the Eight Corpses, the Thirteen Deities, and the Forty-Nine Deities. If one practices any of these, Manjushri will also protect them, especially by relying on Vajrabhairava.
