The prophecy made by the departed is: In the thirteenth chapter of the sixty-four chapters of the Hevajra Root Tantra called "Vajra Garland," it says: The yogi known as Naropa, in the teachings of the Blessed Shakyamuni, will not pass into nirvana but will perform the deeds of an emanation body. This is an emanation of the Victor himself. Thus, the great and glorious Naropa had seven great and supreme disciples who were equal to him and even more famous, namely: the great lord Maitripa, the glorious Shiwawa Sangpo, Jowo Lama Birwapa, the great scholar Shantipa, the Nepalese Sitheripa, the monk Sherab Senge, and Kashmiri Akarasiddhi, these seven. And the four great protectors of the four directions, such as Prajñarakṣita. Many paṇḍita disciples such as the great scholar Smṛti, Śāntarakṣita Jñānākara, Sumatikīrti, etc. Kanaripa, Kashmiri Jangchub Sangpo, Phamdampa Jangchub brothers, etc., eighty-four siddhas. Fifty-four ascetic accomplished yogis such as Pentapa. And one thousand one hundred yoginis with signs, etc., he ripened them, and gave most of the oral transmissions.
