The auxiliary of the preliminary practice for taming one's own mind-stream from the Gongpa Rangdrol. Guru Nyida Ozer. The auxiliary of the preliminary practice for taming one's own mind-stream from the Gongpa Rangdrol. Guru Nyida Ozer. From the profound Dharma, the Peaceful and Wrathful Deities, the Gongpa Rangdrol, the Red Guidance of the Bardo, the experiential guidance, the auxiliary of the preliminary practice for taming one's own mind-stream from the Gongpa Rangdrol. Homage! The primordial protector, the Dharmakaya Kuntuzangpo! The Sambhogakaya, the Peaceful and Wrathful deities! The Nirmanakaya, the teacher Padmasambhava! I prostrate with faith and reverence! By the power of aspiration, for the sake of taming the mind-stream of the students, The experiential guidance of the Bardo, the Gongpa Rangdrol, is taught. The guidance manual for the path of liberation, the path of compassion, is taught. This has three parts: preliminary, main, and concluding. The practice sequence of the preliminary practices of the guidance, According to the scriptures, the practice, and the guru's tradition, For the sake of those with lesser intelligence, it is clearly written here. Here, it is taught through six general topics. Reflecting on the suffering of samsara, the difficulty of finding leisure and endowment. The three contemplations of death and impermanence, are the preliminary practices for taming one's own mind-stream. The second, the preliminary practice for training one's own mind-stream, is: The Guru Yoga, the Hundred Syllable Mantra, The Mandala, Dharma practice, and subsequent activities. First, the preliminary practice for taming one's own mind-stream: First, one should contemplate the suffering of samsara. If one does not contemplate the suffering of samsara, one will not develop renunciation towards samsara. If one does not develop renunciation towards samsara, no matter how much Dharma one practices, one will not be able to separate from this life. Because attachment and clinging to this life cannot be severed, therefore, contemplating the suffering of samsara is extremely important. For this, first, go alone to a place that evokes sadness. If possible, go to the ruins of an uninhabited place, with red, mottled walls, swaying reeds, a chilling place, or visit the sick, and pitiful beggars, etc. Go to the ruins of a place that was once happy and prosperous, but later declined. If these conditions are not met, go alone to a secluded place, on a comfortable cushion, sit in the half-lotus position, planting the right leg on the ground, and placing the left leg on the ground, placing the elbow of the right hand on the knee of the right leg, placing the palm on the right cheek, with the palm of the left hand, covering the knee of the left leg.

Think that all sentient beings will gradually be liberated without exception, and strongly cultivate compassion for all sentient beings in samsara. In this way, constantly think of this samsara as a pit of fire, and also think in detail about all the sufferings of samsara, and keep your mindfulness unwavering day and night. It is also said in the sutras: In samsara, there is never even a needlepoint of happiness. In this way, meditate on the faults of samsara until disgust arises. By meditating on this, you will turn your mind away from samsara, and you will be determined to need the Dharma. If you are not attached to this life, then realization will arise. If you do not turn your mind away from samsara, then meditation is meaningless. Spend three days meditating on this! By meditating on this, you will temporarily become weary of samsara, and ultimately you will attain liberation. Please experience it! From the "Bardo Instructions: Self-Liberation of Intentions," meditating on the suffering of samsara is the first Dharma session. After that, contemplate the difficulty of obtaining leisure and endowment. If you do not contemplate the difficulty of obtaining leisure and endowment, you will not remember the Dharma. Therefore, contemplating the difficulty of obtaining leisure and endowment is extremely important. That is, go to a place where there are many insects, worms, snails, and various kinds of animals. The key point of the body is: sit in the lotus position with your legs crossed, place your hands in the meditation mudra, and think like this in your mind: Alas! Obtaining a human body is only this once! If I do not accomplish the Dharma in this life, it will be very difficult to obtain a human body in the future. It is not enough for just me to obtain a human body now! All the sentient beings of the three realms are wandering in the lower realms for a long time. How pitiful! Think like this, and also recite it in your mouth, giving encouragement: Alas! Alas! Alas! Obtaining a precious human body is only this once! If I do not accomplish the Dharma in this life! It will be very difficult to obtain a human body in the future! How pitiful are those born in the three lower realms! Give encouragement in this way, and meditate in this way. This world is vast and wide, pervaded by the sky and pervaded by the earth. Above this, the suffering of sentient beings in hell, the sound of weeping is constant; the suffering of hungry ghosts, the sound of wailing is incessant; animals, tigers, leopards, bears, monkeys, dogs, foxes...
