Homage to the Peaceful and Wrathful Deities of Kuntu Zangpo. The Uncommon Preliminary Practice of the Profound Dharma, Peaceful and Wrathful Ones, Awareness Itself Liberated: The Four Stages of Guidance for Purifying One's Own Being. First, initially, at the time of dawn, how to awaken from the afflictions of the sleep of ignorance: As stated by Orgyen Rinpoche in the Great Practice, it should be recited: Emaho! Son of fortunate lineage! Do not be overcome by the power of ignorance and delusion. Arouse diligence and rise up now! From beginningless time until now, it is enough to have slept under the power of ignorance! Now do not sleep, strive for virtue with the three doors! Do you not know the suffering of birth, old age, sickness, and death? Even for today, there is no opportunity for permanence! The time has come to arouse diligence in practice! Now is the time to accomplish lasting happiness alone! This is not the time to remain in a state of laziness! Contemplate death and bring practice to its conclusion! Life has no leisure, the causes of death are inconceivable! If you do not gain confidence that you will not be afraid at that time, what is the use of you, a noble person, being alive? All phenomena are selfless, empty, and free from elaboration. Practice like illusions, mirages, dreams, reflections, like cities of gandharvas, echoes. Like moon in water, bubbles, eye ailments, emanations, etc. Just as the ten similes of illusion are known, may you know all phenomena of samsara and nirvana. All phenomena are by nature unborn, without abiding, without cessation, without going or coming, without object, without characteristics, beyond thought and expression. The time has come to realize this meaning! Thus saying. Homage to the Guru), Namo Deva Bhya Homage to the Deva), Namo Dakini Bhya Homage to the Dakini). Thus, supplicate the Guru, Yidam, and Dakini. From what was said in the Great Practice of Orgyen Rinpoche, supplicating the Refuge: Emaho! Impermanent phenomena of samsara! In this long pit of the ocean of karma without liberation! Compassion for beings tormented by karma! Bless to dry up the ocean of suffering!

Alas for all sentient beings! Please bless them to purify their afflictions and obscurations! I am attached to self-grasping, like a wild animal trapped in a cage, entering the trap again. Alas for those ignorant and deluded ones! Please bless them to completely shake off samsara from its depths! In this city of the six realms of karma, where there is no liberation, like drawing water from one place to another with a bucket. Alas for those sentient beings in samsara who cannot be liberated! Please bless them to cut off the birth gates of the six realms! No matter how much one sees the suffering of birth, aging, sickness, and death, those who are not afraid and have strong hearts! Wasting their precious human life on the path of distraction. Please bless them to remember impermanence and death! Because they do not understand impermanence and have no refuge, they still cling to and are attached to this samsara. In a state of wanting happiness, life is spent in suffering. Please bless them to turn away from attachment to samsara! The outer world is impermanent and will be destroyed by fire and water. The inner sentient beings are impermanent, body and mind separate. Summer, winter, autumn, and spring, the seasons are impermanent. Please bless them to generate renunciation from the depths of their hearts! Last year, this year, the beginning and end of the seasons, and the passing of days and nights are all impermanent. If one thinks well, one is being approached by death. Please bless them to persevere in practice! Even though this precious human life is very difficult to obtain, when the Lord of Death is approached by illness, sentient beings without Dharma return empty-handed, how pitiful! Please bless them to generate unfeigned compassion in their hearts! Alas, how pitiful! Lord of Refuge, possessor of compassion! Victorious One, you possess the power of love, please bless me and other sentient beings in the six realms of samsara to be liberated from suffering immediately! Next is the outer, inner, and secret refuge: For the sake of the limitless sentient beings of the three realms and six realms, in the three times of past, future, and present, continuously benefiting them. I prostrate and take refuge in all the Lamas! The chief of two-legged beings, adorned with marks and signs, whose activities are inexhaustible, equal to the extent of space. The Sugatas, Bhagavan, of the ten directions and four times, I prostrate and take refuge in all the Buddhas! The Dharma of peace, detachment, and ultimate truth, the path that does not turn back for the sake of the three vehicles. Sutras, Tantras, oral instructions, and treatises, etc., I prostrate and take refuge in the sacred Dharma! The unerring friend on the path, the field of all supreme assemblies. The noble ones who are utterly separated from the stains of affliction.
