Those same group of six bhikkhus, venerable sir, ate almsfood crushing it from a heap. Those same group of six bhikkhus, venerable sir, covered both curry and sauce with rice. And for one eating alms-food cutting off mouthfuls, and for one eating alms-food making cheeks bulge, and for one eating alms-food shaking the hand, scattering grains of rice, sticking out the tongue, making 'capu-capu' sounds, where was the offense of wrong-doing laid down? Concerning whom, in what matter, was it laid down? Answer – In Sāvatthī, venerable sir, it was laid down concerning the group of six bhikkhus. Venerable sir, the group of six bhikkhus opened their mouths before the mouthful was brought. While eating, they put the whole hand into the mouth. They spoke with a mouthful in their mouth. They ate throwing up lumps of food. They ate cutting off mouthfuls. They ate making cheeks bulge. They ate shaking the hand, scattering grains of rice, sticking out the tongue, making 'capu-capu' sounds. In that matter, venerable sir, it was laid down. Question – Friend, due to disrespect, for one eating making 'suru-suru' sounds, and for one eating licking the hand, or licking the bowl, or licking the lips, and for one receiving a water-pot with a food-stained hand, and for one throwing bowl-washing water with grains of rice inside the house, where was the offense of wrong-doing laid down?
