For those attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent existence, and for those passing away from the non-percipient beings, for them, there, the form-base ceases, but for them, there, the mind-base will not cease. For the others passing away from the five-constituent existence, for them, there, the form-base ceases and the mind-base will cease. (Kha) Or for whom, where, the mind-base...and so on. (Ka) For whom, where, the form-base ceases, for them, there, will the phenomena-base cease? For those attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent existence, for them, there, the form-base ceases, but for them, there, the phenomena-base will not cease. For the others passing away from those with form, for them, there, the form-base ceases and the phenomena-base will cease. (Kha) Or for whom, where, the phenomena-base will cease, for them, there, does the form-base cease? For all those arising, and for those passing away from the formless realms, for them, there, the phenomena-base will cease, but for them, there, the form-base does not cease. For those passing away from those with form, for them, there, the phenomena-base will cease and the form-base ceases. 174. (Ka) For whom, where, the mind-base ceases, for them, there, will the phenomena-base cease? For those attaining final Nibbāna, for them, there, the mind-base ceases, but for them, there, the phenomena-base will not cease. For the others passing away from those with consciousness, for them, there, the mind-base ceases and the phenomena-base will cease. (Kha) Or for whom, where, the phenomena-base will cease, for them, there, does the mind-base cease? For all those arising, and for those passing away from those without consciousness, for them, there, the phenomena-base will cease, but for them, there, the mind-base does not cease. For those passing away from those with consciousness, for them, there, the phenomena-base will cease and the mind-base ceases. (Gha) The contrary person. 175. (Ka) For whom the eye-base does not Does his ear-faculty not cease? For all those arising, those without eyes, those passing away, their eye-faculty does not cease, but their ear-faculty will cease. For those in the formless realms, who are in their last existence, their eye-faculty does not cease, and their ear-faculty will not cease. (Kha) Or again, for whom the ear-faculty will not cease, for him does the eye-faculty not cease? For those attaining Nibbāna in the five-constituent existence, and those who, having arisen in the formless realm, will attain Nibbāna, for them, as they pass away, their ear-faculty will not cease, but their eye-faculty ceases. For those in the formless realms, who are in their last existence, their ear-faculty will not cease, and their eye-faculty does not cease. (Ka) For whom the eye-faculty does not cease, for him will the nose-faculty not cease? For all those arising, those without eyes, those passing away, their eye-faculty does not cease, but their nose-faculty will cease. For those in their last existence, arising in the form realm, for those in the formless realms, who are in their last existence, their eye-faculty does not cease, and their nose-faculty will not cease. (Kha) Or again, for whom the nose-faculty will not cease, for him does the eye-faculty not cease? For those attaining Nibbāna in the five-constituent existence, and those who, having arisen in the form realm or formless realm, will attain Nibbāna, for them, as they pass away, their nose-faculty will not cease, but their eye-faculty ceases. For those in their last existence, arising in the form realm, for those in the formless realms, who are in their last existence, their nose-faculty will not cease, and their eye-faculty does not cease. (Ka) For whom the eye-faculty does not cease, for him will the form-faculty not cease? For all those arising, those without eyes, those passing away, their eye-faculty does not cease, but their form-faculty will cease. For those in the formless realms, who are in their last existence, for whom the eye-base does not cease and the form-base will not cease. (B) Or for whom the form-base will not cease, for him does the eye-base not cease? For those attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent existence, and for those who, having arisen in the formless realm, will attain final Nibbāna, for them, when passing away, the form-base will not cease, but for them the eye-base ceases. For those in the formless realm who are in their last existence, for them the form-base will not cease, and the eye-base does not cease. For whom the eye-base does not cease, for him will the mind-base... (and so on)... the phenomena-base not cease? For all those arising, for those without eyes, when passing away, for them the eye-base does not cease, but for them the phenomena-base will cease. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the formless realm, for them the eye-base does not cease, and the phenomena-base will not cease. Or for whom the phenomena-base will not cease, for him does the eye-base not cease? For those attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent existence, for them the phenomena-base will not cease, but for them the eye-base ceases. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the formless realm, for them the phenomena-base will not cease, and the eye-base does not cease. 176. (A) For whom the nose-base does not cease, for him will the form-base not cease? For all those arising, for those without a nose, when passing away, for them the nose-base does not cease, but for them the form-base will cease. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the form realm, for those in the formless realm who are in their last existence, for them the nose-base does not cease, and the form-base will not cease. (B) Or for whom the form-base will not cease, for him does the nose-base not cease? For those attaining final Nibbāna in the sense-sphere realm, and for those who, having arisen in the formless realm, will attain final Nibbāna, for them, when passing away, for them the form-base will not cease, but for them the nose-base ceases. For those in the form realm For those attaining final Nibbāna in the formless realms, who are in their last existence, for them the form-base will not cease, and the nose-base does not cease. Whose nose-base does not cease, for him the mind-base... (etc.)... the dhamma-base will not cease? For all who are arising, who are without a nose, and who are passing away, for them the nose-base does not cease, but for them the dhamma-base will cease. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the form realms, in the formless realms, for them the nose-base does not cease, and the dhamma-base will not cease. Or again, whose dhamma-base will not cease, for him the nose-base does not cease? For those attaining final Nibbāna in the sense realms, for them the dhamma-base will not cease, but for them the nose-base does cease. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the form realms, in the formless realms, for them the dhamma-base will not cease, and the nose-base does not cease. 177. Whose form-base does not cease, for him the mind-base... (etc.)... the dhamma-base will not cease? For all who are arising, who are without form, and who are passing away, for them the form-base does not cease, but for them the dhamma-base will cease. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the formless realms, for them the form-base does not cease, and the dhamma-base will not cease. Or again, whose dhamma-base will not cease, for him the form-base does not cease? For those attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent existence, for them the dhamma-base will not cease, but for them the form-base does cease. For those attaining final Nibbāna in the formless realms, for them the dhamma-base will not cease, and the form-base does not cease. 178. (A) Whose mind-base does not cease, for him the dhamma-base will not cease? It will cease. (B) Or again, whose dhamma-base will not cease, for him the mind-base does not cease? It does cease. (C) The contrary case. 179. Where the eye-base does not cease... (etc.)... (D) The sphere of contrary persons. 180. (Ka) For whom, where, the eye-faculty does not cease, for them, there, will the ear-faculty not cease? For those arising in the five-constituent existence, for those without eyes, for those passing away from the sense-sphere, for them, there, the eye-faculty does not cease, and not for them, there, the ear-faculty will not cease. For non-percipient beings, for formless beings, for them, there, the eye-faculty does not cease, and the ear-faculty will not cease. (Kha) Or again, for whom, where, the ear-faculty will not cease, for them, there, does the eye-faculty not cease? For those attaining final Nibbāna in the five-constituent existence, for them, there, the ear-faculty will not cease, and not for them, there, the eye-faculty does not cease.
