Having undertaken moral conduct, for one who thinks thoughts of sensual desire, for one who thinks thoughts of ill-will, for one who thinks thoughts of harm, does moral conduct grow? Yes. Is there a combination of two contacts… of two minds? It should not be said thus… Is there a combination of two contacts… of two minds? Yes. Do wholesome and unwholesome, blameworthy and blameless, inferior and superior, dark and bright, corresponding phenomena come into direct presence? It should not be said thus… Do wholesome and unwholesome, blameworthy and blameless, inferior and superior, dark and bright, corresponding phenomena come into direct presence? Yes. Has it not been said by the Blessed One – “These four, monks, are extremely far apart! Which are the four? Sky, monks, and earth – this is the first extremely far apart… Therefore, the Dhamma of the good is far from the wicked. Is there such a Sutta? Yes. Then it should not be said that "wholesome and unwholesome, blameworthy and blameless, inferior and superior, dark and bright, with their counterparts, come into direct presence." 600. Should it not be said that "virtue grows due to undertaking"? Yes. Has it not been said by the Blessed One: "Those who plant groves, those who plant forests... (and so on)... those who are established in Dhamma, endowed with virtue, those people go to heaven"? Is there such a Sutta? Yes. Then virtue grows due to undertaking. Is the gesture of reverence virtue? Is proper conduct virtue? Is offering a seat virtue? Is offering a bed virtue? Is offering foot water virtue? Is offering foot ointment virtue? Is attending to the back during bathing virtue? Yes. Is abstinence from taking life (virtue)? It should not be said thus... (and so on)... Is abstinence from intoxicants, which are the basis of heedlessness (virtue)? It should not be said thus... (and so on)... 602. Should it not be said that "virtue is a manifestation"? Yes.
