Is an Arahant a Non-returner, one who attains Nibbāna in the interim, one who attains Nibbāna upon impact, one who attains Nibbāna without exertion, one who attains Nibbāna with exertion, one who goes upstream to the Akaniṭṭha realm? It should not be said so... (and so on). Is an Anāgāmī endowed with the fruit of Stream-entry? Yes. Is an Anāgāmī a Stream-enterer, one who will be reborn at most seven times, a family-to-family attainer, a one-seeder? It should not be said so... (and so on)... Is an Anāgāmī endowed with the fruit of Once-returning? Yes. Is an Anāgāmī a Once-returner? It should not be said so... (and so on). Is a Sakadāgāmī endowed with the fruit of Stream-entry? Yes. Is a Sakadāgāmī a Stream-enterer, one who will be reborn at most seven times, a family-to-family attainer, a one-seeder? It should not be said so... (and so on). 394. Is one endowed with the fruit of Stream-entry to be called a "Stream-enterer"? Yes. Is an Arahant endowed with the fruit of Stream-entry? Yes. Is that same one an Arahant and a Stream-enterer? Is that same Non-returner a Once-returner? It should not be said so... Is one endowed with the fruit of stream-entry called a "Stream-enterer"? Yes. Is a Once-returner endowed with the fruit of stream-entry? Yes. Is that same Once-returner a Stream-enterer? It should not be said so... 395. Is an Arahant endowed with the fruit of stream-entry? Yes. But does not an Arahant transcend the fruit of stream-entry? Yes. If an Arahant transcends the fruit of stream-entry, then surely it should not be said: "An Arahant is endowed with the fruit of stream-entry." Is an Arahant who has transcended the fruit of stream-entry endowed with it? Yes. Has an Arahant transcended the path of stream-entry, self-view, doubt, adherence to rites and rituals, passion leading to lower realms, aversion leading to lower realms, delusion leading to lower realms, and is he endowed with them? If an Anāgāmi has overcome the Sotāpatti fruit, then it should not be said: “An Anāgāmi is endowed with the Sotāpatti fruit.” Having overcome the Sotāpatti fruit, is an Anāgāmi endowed with it? Yes. If an Anāgāmi has overcome the Sakadāgāmi fruit, then it should not be said: “An Anāgāmi is endowed with the Sakadāgāmi fruit.” Having overcome the Sakadāgāmi fruit, is an Anāgāmi endowed with it? Is an Arahant endowed with six kinds of contact, with six kinds of feeling, with six kinds of perception… and with six kinds of wisdom? It should not be said so… Is an Arahant endowed with six kinds of equanimity? Yes. Does an Arahant, seeing a form with the eye, hear a sound with the ear, smell an odor with the nose, taste a flavor with the tongue, touch a tangible with the body, cognize a mental object with the mind… and cognizing a mental object with the mind, see a form with the eye, hear a sound with the ear, smell an odor with the nose, taste a flavor with the tongue, touch a tangible with the body? It should not be said so… Is an Arahant endowed with six kinds of equanimity? Yes.
