"A person is apprehended in the sense of ultimate reality"? Yes. Does not he who sees, what he sees, by which he sees, he sees it, that he sees, by that he sees? Yes. If he who sees, what he sees, by which he sees, he sees it, that he sees, by that he sees; then indeed it should be said: "A person is apprehended in the sense of ultimate reality." 119. Should it not be said: "A person is apprehended in the sense of ultimate reality"? Yes. Does not he who hears...and so on... he who smells... he who tastes... he who touches... he who cognizes, what he cognizes, by which he cognizes, he cognizes it, that he cognizes, by that he cognizes? Yes. If one knows what one knows by which one knows, then one knows that, one knows by that; therefore, indeed, it should be said – "A person is apprehended in the sense of ultimate reality." Is a person apprehended in the sense of ultimate reality? Yes. Does not one who does not see what one does not see by which one does not see, not see that, not see by that? Yes. If one who does not see what one does not see by which one does not see, does not see that, does not see by that; then, indeed, it should not be said – "A person is apprehended in the sense of ultimate reality." Is a person apprehended in the sense of ultimate reality? Yes. Does not one who does not hear, (etc.) who does not smell, who does not taste, who does not touch, who does not know what one does not know by which one does not know, not know that, not know by that? Yes. If one who does not know what one does not know by which one does not know, does not know that, does not know by that; then, indeed, it should not be said – "A person is apprehended in the sense of ultimate reality." Should it not be said – "A person is apprehended in the sense of ultimate reality"? Yes. Has it not been said by the Blessed One – "I see, monks, with the divine eye, purified and surpassing human sight, beings passing away and reappearing, inferior and superior, beautiful and ugly, fortunate and unfortunate, I discern beings according to their karma"? Is there such a Sutta? Yes. Then, indeed, a person is apprehended in the sense of ultimate reality. Has it been said by the Blessed One – "I see, monks, with the divine eye, purified and surpassing human sight, beings passing away and reappearing, inferior and superior, beautiful and ugly, fortunate and unfortunate, I discern beings according to their karma" and on account of that very reason, is a person apprehended in the sense of ultimate reality? Yes. The Blessed One, with the divine eye, purified, surpassing human, does he see form, or does he see a person? He sees form. Is form a person, does form pass away, does form reappear, does form go according to kamma? It should not be said thus. The Blessed One, with the divine eye, purified, surpassing human, does he see form, or does he see a person? He sees a person. Is a person form, a visible object, a visible element, blue, yellow, red, white, cognizable by the eye, striking the eye, coming into the range of the eye? It should not be said thus. The Blessed One, with the divine eye, purified, surpassing human, does he see form, or does he see a person? He sees both. Are both form, a visible object, a visible element, are both blue, are both yellow, are both red, are both white, are both cognizable by the eye, do both strike the eye, do both come into the range of the eye, do both pass away, do both reappear, do both go according to kamma? It should not be said thus... 124. Are good and bad deeds found, and is an agent or instigator of good and bad deeds found? Yes. Is an agent or instigator of that found? It should not be said thus... 125. Is an agent or instigator of that found? Yes. For that very one, is there no end to suffering, no cutting off of the cycle, no Nibbana without clinging? It should not be said thus... 126. Are good and bad deeds found, and is an agent or instigator of good and bad deeds found? Yes. Is a person found, and is an agent or instigator of a person found? It should not be said thus... 127. Are good and bad deeds found, and is an agent or instigator of good and bad deeds found... Is Nibbāna found? Yes. Is Nibbāna found? Is a doer, a maker of Nibbāna found? It should not be said so...etc. 128. Are good and bad deeds found? Is a doer, a maker of good and bad deeds found? Yes. Is the great earth found? Is a doer, a maker of the great earth found? It should not be said so...etc. 129. Are good and bad deeds found? Is a doer, a maker of good and bad deeds found? Yes. Is the great ocean found? Is a doer, a maker of the great ocean found? It should not be said so...etc. 130. Are good and bad deeds found? Is a doer, a maker of good and bad deeds found? Yes. Is Sineru, the king of mountains, found? Is a doer, a maker of Sineru, the king of mountains, found? It should not be said so...etc. 131. Are good and bad deeds found? Is *that* experiencer found? Yes. For *that very one*, is there no end to suffering, no cutting off of the cycle, no ungrasped Nibbāna? It should not be said thus... Is the result of good and bad deeds found, and is one who experiences the result of good and bad deeds found? Yes. Is a person found? Is one who experiences a person found? It should not be said thus... Is the result of good and bad deeds found, and is one who experiences the result of good and bad deeds found? Yes. Is Nibbāna found? Is one who experiences Nibbāna found? It should not be said thus... Is the result of good and bad deeds found, and is one who experiences the result of good and bad deeds found? Yes. Is the great earth found...? Is the great ocean found...? Is the king of mountains, Sineru, found...? Are waters found...? Is fire found...? Is wind found...? Are grasses, sticks, and plants found? Is one who experiences grasses, sticks, and plants found? It should not be said thus... Is the result of good and bad deeds found, and is one who experiences the result of good and bad deeds found? Yes. The result of good and bad deeds is one thing, the experiencer of the result of good and bad deeds is another. Divine happiness exists? Yes. A perceiver of divine happiness exists? It should not be said so...etc... 144. Divine happiness exists, a perceiver of divine happiness exists? Yes. A perceiver of that exists? It should not be said so...etc... 145. A perceiver of that exists? Yes. For that very one, is there no ending of suffering, no cutting off of the cycle, no unconditioned Nibbāna? It should not be said so...etc... 146. Divine happiness exists, a perceiver of divine happiness exists? Yes. A person exists, a perceiver of a person exists? It should not be said so...etc... 147. Divine happiness exists, a perceiver of divine happiness exists? Yes. Nibbāna exists, a perceiver of Nibbāna exists? It should not be said so...etc... 148. Divine happiness exists, a perceiver of divine happiness exists? Yes. The great earth exists... the great ocean exists... the king of mountains, Sineru, exists... water exists... fire exists... wind exists...etc... grass, wood, and plants exist, a perceiver of grass, wood, and plants exists? It should not be said so...etc... 149. Divine happiness exists, a perceiver of divine happiness exists? Yes. Is divine happiness one thing, and the perceiver of divine happiness another? It should not be said so...etc... 150. Human happiness exists? Yes. A perceiver of human happiness exists? It should not be said so...etc... 151. For that very one there is no ending of suffering, there is no cutting off of the cycle, there is no Nibbana without clinging? It should not be said thus…pe…. 153. Is human happiness found?
