That which at that time is bodily unpleasantness, bodily pain, born of contact with the body-consciousness element, unpleasant pain born of bodily contact, the felt unpleasant painful feeling born of bodily contact – this at that time is feeling... 559. What is suffering at that time? That which at that time is bodily unpleasantness, bodily pain, unpleasant pain born of bodily contact, the felt unpleasant painful feeling born of bodily contact – this at that time is suffering... 560. What is the faculty of suffering at that time? That which at that time is bodily unpleasantness, bodily pain, unpleasant pain born of bodily contact, the felt unpleasant painful feeling born of bodily contact – this at that time is the faculty of suffering... And whatever other formless phenomena there are at that time, dependently arisen – these phenomena are indeterminate. And at that time there are four aggregates, there are two sense-bases, there are two elements, there are three nutriments, there are three faculties, there is one contact... there is one body-consciousness element, there is one mind-object sense-base, there is one mind-object element; and whatever other formless phenomena there are at that time, dependently arisen – these phenomena are indeterminate... 561. What is the aggregate of formations at that time? Contact, volition, one-pointedness of mind, life faculty; and whatever other formless phenomena there are at that time, dependently arisen, apart from the aggregate of feeling, apart from the aggregate of perception, apart from the aggregate of consciousness – this at that time is the aggregate of formations... these phenomena are indeterminate. Five consciousnesses resulting from unwholesome karma. Mind-element resulting from unwholesome karma. 562. Which phenomena are indeterminate? At the time of unwholesome... Due to the doing and accumulation of kamma, as a result, the mind-element arises, accompanied by equanimity, having form as its object, or... or having touch as its object, or whatever it may be that it takes as its object. At that time there is contact, there is feeling, there is perception, there is volition, there is consciousness, there is initial application, there is sustained application, there is equanimity, there is one-pointedness of mind, there is the faculty of mind, there is the faculty of equanimity, there is the faculty of life; and whatever other formless states there are, dependently arisen at that time – these states are indeterminate... And at that time, there are four aggregates, there are two sense bases, there are two elements, there are three nutriments, there are three faculties, there is one contact... there is one mind-element, there is one mind-object base, there is one mind-object element; and whatever other formless states there are, dependently arisen at that time – these states are indeterminate... 563. What is the aggregate of formations at that time? Contact, volition, initial application, sustained application, one-pointedness of mind, the faculty of life; and whatever other formless states there are, dependently arisen at that time, excluding the aggregate of feeling, excluding the aggregate of perception, excluding the aggregate of consciousness – this is the aggregate of formations at that time... these states are indeterminate. Mind-element, result of unwholesome kamma. Mind-consciousness element, result of unwholesome kamma. 564. Which states are indeterminate? At the time when, due to the doing and accumulation of unwholesome kamma, as a result, the mind-consciousness element arises, accompanied by equanimity, having form as its object, or... or having mind-objects as its object, or whatever it may be that it takes as its object. And at that time there are four aggregates, there are two sense bases, there are two elements, there are three nutriments, there are three faculties, there is one contact... there is one mind-consciousness element, there is one mind-object base, there is one mind-object element; or whatever other formless phenomena exist at that time, arisen dependently – these phenomena are undetermined... 565. Which is the aggregate of formations at that time? Contact, volition, initial application, sustained application, one-pointedness of mind, life faculty; or whatever other formless phenomena exist at that time, arisen dependently, excluding the aggregate of feeling, excluding the aggregate of perception, excluding the aggregate of consciousness – this is the aggregate of formations at that time... these phenomena are undetermined. Unwholesome resultant mind-consciousness element. Resultants are undetermined. Rootless functional undetermined. Functional mind element. 566. Which phenomena are undetermined? At the time when the mind element has arisen, functional, neither wholesome nor unwholesome, and not a result of kamma, accompanied by equanimity, having a visible object as its object, or... having a tangible object as its object, or whatever it may be taking as its object, at that time there is contact, there is feeling, there is perception, there is volition, there is mind, there is initial application, there is sustained application, there is equanimity, there is one-pointedness of mind, there is the mind faculty, there is the equanimity faculty, there is the life faculty; or whatever other formless phenomena exist at that time, arisen dependently – these phenomena are undetermined... And at that time there are four aggregates, there are two sense bases, there are two elements, there are three nutriments, there are three faculties, there is one contact... there is one mind element, there is one mind-object base, there is one mind-object element; or whatever other formless phenomena exist at that time, arisen dependently – these phenomena are undetermined... 567. Which is the aggregate of formations at that time? P... contact, intention, initial application, sustained application, one-pointedness of mind, faculty of life; and whatever other formless states there are at that time, dependently arisen, apart from the aggregate of feeling, apart from the aggregate of perception, apart from the aggregate of consciousness – this at that time is the aggregate of volitional formations… (and so on)… these states are indeterminate. Functional mind-element. Functional mind-consciousness-element accompanied by joy. 568. What states are indeterminate? At the time when the mind-consciousness-element has arisen, functional, neither wholesome nor unwholesome, and not the result of kamma, accompanied by joy, having a visible object or… (and so on)… having a mental object, or whatever it may be, at that time there is contact, there is feeling, there is perception, there is intention, there is mind, there is initial application, there is sustained application, there is rapture, there is happiness, there is one-pointedness of mind, there is the faculty of energy, there is the faculty of concentration, there is the faculty of mind, there is the faculty of joy, there is the faculty of life; and whatever other formless states there are at that time, dependently arisen – these states are indeterminate. 569. What is the contact at that time? Whatever at that time is contact, touching, complete touching, the state of having completely touched – this at that time is contact… (and so on)… 570. What is the one-pointedness of mind at that time? Whatever at that time is the stability of mind, steadfastness, unswervingness, non-distraction, non-scattering, non-scattered-mindedness, tranquility, the faculty of concentration, the power of concentration – this at that time is the one-pointedness of mind. 571. What is the faculty of energy at that time? Whatever at that time is the mental exertion of energy, effort, striving, endeavor, exertion, enthusiasm, zeal, strength, firmness, unflagging striving, unabandoned desire, unabandoned burden, taking up the burden, energy, the faculty of energy, the power of energy – this at that time is the faculty of energy. 572. What is the faculty of concentration at that time? Whatever at that time is the stability of mind Standing, steadfastness, unmoving, non-distraction, non-agitation, unscattered-mindedness, tranquility, the faculty of concentration, the power of concentration – this is the faculty of concentration at that time… And whatever other formless phenomena there are, dependently arisen at that time – these phenomena are indeterminate. And at that time there are four aggregates, there are two sense bases, there are two elements, there are three nutriments, there are five faculties, there is one contact… there is one mind-consciousness element, there is one mind-object base, there is one mind-object element; and whatever other formless phenomena there are, dependently arisen at that time – these phenomena are indeterminate… 573.
