Contact, volition, initial application, sustained application, one-pointedness of mind, faculty of energy, faculty of life, wrong intention, wrong effort, power of energy, power of shamelessness, power of fearlessness of wrongdoing, doubt, delusion, shamelessness, fearlessness of wrongdoing, exertion; or moreover, at that time there are other dependently arisen formless phenomena, excluding the aggregate of feeling, excluding the aggregate of perception, excluding the aggregate of consciousness— this is the aggregate of formations at that time...and so on.... These phenomena are unwholesome. 427. Which phenomena are unwholesome? At which time an unwholesome mind arises... It is accompanied by equanimity, associated with restlessness, taking a visible object, or... Whatever object it takes, at that time there is contact, there is feeling, there is perception, there is volition, there is consciousness, there is initial application, there is sustained application, there is equanimity, there is one-pointedness of mind, there is the faculty of energy, there is the faculty of concentration, there is the faculty of mind, there is the faculty of equanimity, there is the faculty of life, there is wrong intention, there is wrong effort, there is wrong concentration, there is the power of energy, there is the power of concentration, there is the power of shamelessness, there is the power of fearlessness of wrongdoing, there is restlessness, there is delusion, there is shamelessness, there is fearlessness of wrongdoing, there is tranquility, there is exertion, there is non-distraction; Or whatever other formless phenomena, dependently arisen, exist at that time— these phenomena are unwholesome. 428. What is contact at that time? That contact at that time, touching, thorough touching, the state of having thoroughly touched— this is contact at that time... 429. What is restlessness at that time? That restlessness of mind at that time, non-calmness, mental distraction, agitation of mind— this is restlessness at that time... Or whatever other formless phenomena, dependently arisen, exist at that time— these phenomena are unwholesome. At the time when, due to the doing and accumulating of wholesome kamma in the sense-sphere, a resultant eye-consciousness has arisen, accompanied by equanimity, with a visible object; at that time, there is contact, there is feeling, there is perception, there is volition, there is mind, there is equanimity, there is one-pointedness of mind, there is the faculty of mind, there is the faculty of equanimity, there is the faculty of life; and whatever other formless phenomena dependently arisen at that time – these phenomena are indeterminate. 432. What is contact at that time? That which at that time is contact, impingement, complete impingement, the state of having completely impinged – this is contact at that time. 433. What is feeling at that time? That which at that time is mental, born of contact with that eye-consciousness element, neither pleasant nor unpleasant, born of mental contact, a neither painful nor pleasant experience, a neither painful nor pleasant feeling born of mental contact – this is feeling at that time. 434. What is perception at that time? That which at that time is perception, born of contact with that eye-consciousness element, perceiving, the state of having perceived – this is perception at that time. 435. What is volition at that time? That which at that time is volition, born of contact with that eye-consciousness element, intending, the state of having intended – this is volition at that time. 436. What is mind at that time? That which at that time is mind, mentality, thought. heart, intellect, mind, mind-base, mind-faculty, consciousness, consciousness-aggregate, the eye-consciousness element arising from that – this is the mind at that time. 437. What is equanimity at that time? That mental state at that time which is neither pleasant nor unpleasant, a feeling born of mental contact, neither painful nor pleasant, a feeling born of mental contact, neither painful nor pleasant – this is equanimity at that time. 438. What is one-pointedness of mind at that time? That stability of mind at that time – this is one-pointedness of mind at that time. 439. What is the mind-faculty at that time? That mind, intellect, thought, heart, consciousness, mind, mind-base, mind-faculty, consciousness, consciousness-aggregate, the eye-consciousness element arising from that – this is the mind-faculty at that time. 440. What is the faculty of equanimity at that time? That mental state at that time which is neither pleasant nor unpleasant, a feeling born of mental contact, neither painful nor pleasant, a feeling born of mental contact, neither painful nor pleasant – this is the faculty of equanimity at that time. 441. What is the life-faculty at that time? That life, stability, carrying on, maintaining, movement, continuance, preservation, life, life-faculty of those formless phenomena – this is the life-faculty at that time; or whatever other dependently arisen formless phenomena exist at that time – these phenomena are indeterminate. And at that time there are four aggregates, there are two bases, there are two elements, there are three nutriments, there are three faculties, there is one contact…and so on… there is one eye-consciousness element, there is one mind-object base, there is one mind-object element; or whatever other dependently arisen formless phenomena exist at that time – these phenomena are indeterminate…and so on…. 442. What is the aggregate of formations at that time? Contact, volition, one-pointedness of mind, life-faculty; or whatever other At that time, there are also other dependently arisen formless phenomena, excluding the aggregate of feeling, excluding the aggregate of perception, excluding the aggregate of consciousness – this, at that time, is the aggregate of volitional formations... these phenomena are indeterminate. 443. Which phenomena are indeterminate? At the time when, due to a wholesome kamma of the sense-sphere having been done and accumulated, resultant ear-consciousness has arisen, accompanied by equanimity, with sound as its object... nose-consciousness has arisen, accompanied by equanimity, with smell as its object... tongue-consciousness has arisen, accompanied by equanimity, with taste as its object... body-consciousness has arisen, accompanied by pleasure, with touch as its object, at that time there is contact, there is feeling, there is perception, there is volition, there is mind, there is pleasure, there is one-pointedness of mind, there is the faculty of mind, there is the faculty of pleasure, there is the faculty of life; or whatever other dependently arisen formless phenomena there are at that time – these phenomena are indeterminate. 444. What is contact at that time? Whatever contact at that time, impingement, touching, the state of having touched – this, at that time, is contact. 445. What is feeling at that time? Whatever at that time, bodily agreeableness born of contact with the body-consciousness element related to that, bodily pleasure, agreeableness and pleasure born of body-contact, felt, agreeable and pleasant feeling born of body-contact – this, at that time, is feeling. 446. What is perception at that time? Whatever at that time, perception born of contact with the body-consciousness element related to that, perceiving, the state of having perceived – this, at that time, is perception. 447. Whatever at that time, volition born of contact with the body-consciousness element related to that, intending, the state of having intended – this, at that time, is volition. 448.
