Where there is the unfolding of perception and intention, there is the unfolding of consciousness. Where there is the unfolding of consciousness, there is the unfolding of perception and intention. Where there is the unfolding of perception, intention, and consciousness, there is the unfolding of knowledge. Where there is the unfolding of knowledge, there is the unfolding of perception, intention, and consciousness. Where there is the unfolding of perception, intention, consciousness, and knowledge, there is the unfolding of liberation. For devas in the form-sphere, by how many conditions does rebirth occur? For devas in the formless-sphere, by how many conditions does rebirth occur? In a fortunate destiny, associated with knowledge, by eight conditions does rebirth occur. For great wealthy khattiyas, for great wealthy brahmins, for great wealthy householders, for devas in the sense-sphere, associated with knowledge, by eight conditions does rebirth occur. For devas in the form-sphere, by eight conditions does rebirth occur. For devas in the formless-sphere, by eight conditions does rebirth occur. from the eight conditions, there is rebirth. 232. In the perfection of destiny, connected with knowledge, from which of the eight conditions is there rebirth? At the javana moment of wholesome kamma, three conditions are wholesome; at that moment, they are co-arising conditions for the consciousness that arises. Therefore it is said: "Formations also have wholesome roots as conditions." At the moment of craving, two conditions are unwholesome; at that moment, they are co-arising conditions for the consciousness that arises. Therefore it is said: "Formations also have unwholesome roots as conditions." At the moment of re-linking, three conditions are indeterminate; at that moment, they are co-arising conditions
