This bhikkhu Udāyī committed one offense of intentional emission of semen, concealed for five days… having completed his probation, he requests a six-night penance for three offenses from the Saṅgha. If it is agreeable to the Saṅgha, the Saṅgha should give the bhikkhu Udāyī a six-night penance for three offenses. This is the motion. “May the Saṅgha, venerable sirs, listen to me. And thus, monks, he should be reinstated to the beginning – by that monk Udāyi, monks, approaching the Sangha… he should be addressed thus: ‘Venerable sirs, I committed an offense: an intentional emission of semen, concealed for five days… and while observing Manatta, I committed an offense in between: an intentional emission of semen, unconcealed. Venerable sirs, I request the Sangha for reinstatement to the beginning due to the intervening unconcealed intentional emission of semen.’ A second time it should be requested. How should I proceed?” They reported this matter to the Blessed One. “In that case, bhikkhus, the Saṅgha should send bhikkhu Udāyī back to the beginning for that one offense of intentional emission of semen, unconcealed, and give him a six-night penance. And thus, bhikkhus, he should be sent back to the beginning… …And thus, bhikkhus, the six-night penance should be given… …The Saṅgha has given bhikkhu Udāyī a six-night penance for that one offense of intentional emission of semen, unconcealed.
