Give alms without stinginess, Maintain discipline without harm, Practice patience without anger, Engage in diligence without laziness, Meditate on contemplation without distraction, Generate wisdom of great bliss, free from elaboration, Dedicate these six to the benefit of beings. Thus it was said: Spoken by the Precious Guru while residing in his residence. Sanskrit Romanization: namo guru, Literal meaning: Homage to the Guru). Is samsara and nirvana without duality, has the mind become free from hope and fear? Does the Yidam (Deity) abide in the appearance of the mind? Is the practice of the generation stage like plowing? Do obstacles appear as accomplishments? Is the recitation of the protection wheel like flowing water? Are wind and mind without duality? Is the practice of the root wind like riding? Do faults appear as qualities? Has the wrong path of practice been cut off? Have appearances and mind merged into one? Is it free from the duality of grasping and the grasped? Are self and other without duality? Is it free from the duality of attachment and hatred? Does it abide at the peak of no rebirth? Is the path and bhumi (stages of enlightenment) cut off in one lifetime? Does it abide in the state of being spontaneously accomplished from the beginning? Is it free from the duality of cause and condition? Does it abide in the middle way of existence and non-existence? Is it beyond the mind? Have samatha (calm abiding) and vipassana (insight) been mixed? Has the mind gained stability? Are the six collections of actions relaxed? Are the signs liberated in their own place? Is it abiding free from the duality of virtue and sin? Have the four modes of conduct (walking, standing, sitting, lying down) taken their own place? Is it free from pride? Do the five objects abide in the state of illusion? Has sudden clinging turned back? Is clear light continuous? Are the three bardos (intermediate states) absent? Has everything been decided in the mind? Is one knowing all skillful? Is it not necessary to think about the combination of words? Has one become proficient in the Dharma? Again, when the Precious Guru was residing at Tso la Karpo: Emaho! In the charnel ground of the aggregates, The self-born king of mind abides. In the past, it was disturbed by the hailstorm of thoughts, Now it possesses the meaning of great bliss. The minister of awareness, like a jewel, In the past, it was lost in the realm of memory, Now it knows all self and others. The eight worldly dharmas belonging to the retinue, In the past, they separated into their own realms, Now they gather on the inseparable plain. The empty mother of the alaya (storehouse consciousness), In the past, it was clothed with the fault of promiscuity, Now the mind itself has taken its own place. The mind, like a wild horse without reins, In the past, it ran on the wrong path, Now it is firmly grasped by correct mindfulness. The mind itself, like a precious jewel, In the past, it was lost in the midst of afflictions, Now it abides in its own peace. Looking at the ground (Gzhi), joy arises, Looking at the meaning (Don). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

‘Disgusting wood!’ Thus he spoke. This was composed when Jetsun Rinpoche was residing in Pompu, at the request of Geshe Bo. Self-awareness, free from extremes, I understand this to be the ultimate view. What do I have to say to sectarianists? Primordial state, continuously abides, I understand this to be the ultimate meditation. What do I have to say to intermittent practitioners? Body and mind dedicated to the benefit of beings, I understand this to be the ultimate conduct. What do I have to say to self-serving individuals? These three, inseparable, realized as one, I understand this to be the ultimate result. What do I have to say to those with hope and fear? Bo Gompa, is this how it is? If one realizes in this way, it is ultimate. This is taught through the four aspects of view, meditation, conduct, and result.
