Free from thoughts and distinctions, the nature of mind abides in the ground of Dharma. Free from the mind of clinging, the realization of knowing one and liberating all arises. Free from the mind of listening, one knows that form is an illusory body. Free from the mind of cherishing, the understanding of sound resounding in emptiness arises. The understanding that rebuke and scolding are illusory arises, and the Dharma nature of abiding in itself is clear. Free from the mind of separating the intervals of meditation, my mind is like that. You should also understand like that, my son.' Thus he spoke. The venerable guru Lhaje said, 'Go to the border between Mön and Tibet to practice.' Then he became the object of offerings for the king of Mön, and when he was living in the mountains of Mön, a friend asked him to sing a song, so he composed this song. Homage to all the gurus! Refuge in the kind one! That mountain over there is the mountain of Mön, this mountain over here is the mountain of Tibet. At the border between Mön and Tibet, in the endless realm, I wander in aimless yoga. I walk in the solitary mountains without regard for appearances, I have never sung a song before. Before the face of clear discipline, now I offer a clear song. That mountain over there is the mountain of Mön, I have never been there before, I understand the edge of nirvana. This mountain over here is the mountain of Tibet, because the mind is the cause of various thoughts and distinctions, I understand the edge of the three realms of samsara. At the border between Mön and Tibet, that endless realm, I understand that it is the pure land of the Buddha. I wander in aimless yoga, I walk in the solitary mountains without regard for appearances, I understand that I surpass the eight worldly dharmas. If you cannot walk in the solitary mountains, then the sky, no matter how vast, cannot contain you, the cold, no matter how severe, you cannot endure, the nature of mind, no matter how much you look, you cannot see, the six consciousnesses, no matter how much you restrain, you cannot stop. If you practice, then rest the knowledge in its own nature; if you are scattered, then let the coarse knowledge go. The view without attachment to samsara and nirvana is blissful, the practice without separation from non-thought is blissful, the effortless, spontaneous action is blissful, the fruit of non-attachment, pure as the sky, is blissful. If you realize such a meaning, various musical instruments play beautiful music and pass away, pass away free from the fear of death, pass away naturally liberated in samsara. Please, guru, accept this offering of song! I report to the wise scholars who are skilled in meaning! Please, all patrons, be delighted!' Thus he spoke. After that, as soon as the guru arrived in Can, the guru again said, 'Go to Shamed Gangkha to practice.' Then he went there and stayed there for three summers.

After that, he became lazy and lived by begging, just wandering around below the monastery. He thought, 'I have special instructions, I know the inexhaustible essence, I have met a lama like the Buddha, and extraordinary experiences and realizations have arisen in my mind.' Then, at that time, he composed this song: The virtuous lama, Rin-po-che, Is the source of fulfilling the wishes of the fortunate. Blessings appear impartially, If my faith and reverence are small, it is my own fault. The king of secret mantras without transmission, The king of instructions shows the channels and winds. When the body feels warm, If my patience in practice is small, it is my own fault. If the father's kindness is small, then one's own door is poor. Even without a three-stranded wick, I have the instructions for spontaneous achievement of inner heat. If I am afraid of the cold, it is my own fault. For not being able to enjoy one's own property, Even without offerings from believers, I know the inexhaustible essence. If I am afraid of hunger, it is my own fault. The suffering of past samsara is unbearable, When meeting Rin-po-che, Practicing with one-pointedness, If I lack perseverance, it is my own fault. Because I practice according to the lama's instructions, Even if realization has not become stable, I have the instructions for the three bardos. If I am afraid of death, it is my own fault. So! When Rin-po-che (Precious One) was staying at the sunny side of Mtshur-phu Monastery, he composed the Song of Five Joys: In the realm of emptiness, awareness moves, There is no such thing as the name of the five poisons. The view is decided, how happy the mind is! In the realm of non-duality, great bliss moves, There is no such thing as the name of straying. Meditation is decided, how happy the mind is! In the realm of non-arising, spontaneous arising moves, There is no such thing as the name of negation and affirmation. Conduct is decided, how happy the mind is! In the realm of wisdom, the Dharmakaya moves, There is no such thing as this life and the next. The result is decided, how happy the mind is! In the realm of the kingdom, spontaneous arising moves, There is no such thing as relatives and friends. The homeland is decided, how happy the mind is! It is said that Rin-po-che (Precious One) spoke these words when offering fish with his fingers in the inner sanctum. At Khar-rtsang, when offering with three fingers, in order to fulfill the lama's intention, while offering with three fingers, he prayed to the lama in the evening, and at dawn, in a dream, he visualized the lama coming before him, and the lama said: Know the view of freedom from extremes, Know the unchanging nature as meditation, Know the unattached taming as conduct, Know these three as inseparable as the result. This is the self-benefiting Dharmakaya, Now, for the benefit of others, please act like this: Attachment...
