Translated by the Indian Pandit Vimala Mitra and the Tibetan translator Nyak Jñana. # In Sanskrit: Sarva Amrita Pancha Bhava Jati Janani Phala Ratna Prabodha Majwala Tantra. In Tibetan: The Tantra that Blazes Like Light, the Precious Fruit Born of and Causing to Be Born in the Nature of All Five Amritas. Homage to the Bhagavan, the Lord of Supreme Secrets, the Vajra Wrathful One, whose body, speech, and mind are amrita, and whose actions are without acceptance or rejection. At a time when all this was known as amrita medicine, the Bhagavan, the glorious Vajrakumara, the lord of all lineages and wisdom, with all outer, inner, and ultimate things, was actually making the nature of amrita medicine. He was dwelling as the supreme medicine for those to be tamed, the wicked, those afflicted by the five poisons and the four hundred and twenty-four diseases. Without beginning or middle, without direction or bias, in the palace of the great palace of all amrita, the peaceful assembly of deities, the supreme amrita itself, the nature of amrita, the mother who bestows amrita, the five families who pour amrita, the ten wrathful ones who protect amrita, the gods, nagas, and brahmas who drink amrita, surrounded by countless, inconceivable, inexpressible numbers of attendants, like dust motes in a field. From within such an assembly, the glorious Vajrapani rose from his seat and sat with the courage to ask. The chapter on the foundation of the land, the first chapter, from the Tantra of How the Precious Amrita is Born. Then, again, that Vajra Wrathful One, with his miraculous eye, saw all those who dwell on the earth, those who move on the earth, those who gradually practice the path, Brahma, the gods, the nagas, the planets and stars, the yakshas, the gods and the eight classes of non-human spirits, the boats, the corpses, the dakinis, humans and animals, hell, the pretas, the five elements, the plants, and all the forests, and knew that all were of the nature of amrita. Then Vajrapani rose from his seat, circumambulated the Bhagavan three times, prostrated himself, and circumambulated him, and asked the Vajra Wrathful One: All

Now, in the very nature of nectar, why does the term "poison" arise? What is the cause of birth and death? How can these be cured? And how should one tame? Having been asked this, Vajra Krodha replied: Everything is originally nectar; where is there such a thing as poison? It is merely your own inverted actions. Black haritaki is food for peacocks. Mixing water and butter is medicine for heart and lung ailments. To perceive it as poison is a fault of the preparation. For those with cold conditions, camphor and the like, if improperly prepared, can cause death. If cured with water, medicine and butter become poison. Likewise, all nectars, if improperly prepared, all become poison. If a wise person understands it as medicine, then in the three realms, there is not even the name of poison. When everything has become medicine, the wise should understand the preparation. In the river of birth, aging, sickness, and death, the coarse seeds of samsara accumulate as a continuous path of suffering. If the four maras are not severed at the root, there is no time to be liberated from this birth and death. There are four ways to cure them: to cure birth, one must accumulate merit. The four types of birth are all difficult. To cure sickness, one must cure with medicine, of which there are four hundred and four. To cure aging, one must cure with food, or else the winds are exhausted. To cure death, one must accomplish nectar, and attain the state of a vidyadhara of longevity. The method of taming is through body, speech, and mind, taming with inconceivable miracles. Having spoken thus, Vajrapani again asked: In the boundless realms of the world, for those extremely deluded beings, there is not even the name of medicine, and the nectars are obscured by obscurations. The body is afflicted by four hundred and four diseases, and speech is connected to them. The gathering senses are controlled by them, and the cycle of birth and death of the mind is not severed. For those extremely ignorant beings, it is appropriate to create emanations as a means of taming. Having been asked this, Vajra Krodha replied: Everything abides in the samadhi of nectar, and then emanations are manifested. For the bodhisattvas of the ten bhumis, the body is in the form of Vairochana. On the eighth bhumi, it is the lord of the three families. For Brahma and others, it is the form of a great god. For all the gods, it is Indra. For the asuras, it is the weaver. For the planets and stars, it is the form of Vishnu. For all the nagas, it is the naga king. For the hell beings, it is Yama. For the obscurations, it is the flaming woman. For animals
