By severing the cliff of samsara with the six syllables, samsara becomes empty. The chapter on severing the cliff of the six realms, the third. Thus, merely by severing the cliff of samsara with the six syllables, the three secret enemies are slain. The outer enemy is the enemy of hatred and the obstructing demons of harm. Because one's own mind realizes the meaning of great compassion, the essence of emptiness and compassion arises in the continuum. Due to the delusion of self and others, enemies and demons appear, but since delusion has been reversed, the enemies and demons are liberated in their own place, and the outer enemy is also slain in its own place. The inner enemy is sickness and suffering. Because the body is visualized as the deity, the coarse aggregate body is liberated in its own place, the elements of the body are balanced, and the sickness of the four elements is pacified. The suffering of the mind is caused by one's own mind, but since the mind has no inherently existing nature, the maker of suffering is liberated in its own place, the nature of suffering vanishes, and the inner enemy is also slain in its own place. The secret ego-ghost, the five poisons arise from the mind and manifest as uninterrupted power. Arising from the mind, they dissolve into the insubstantial mind, and arising and liberation occur simultaneously, becoming peaceful. Although the clinging to ego arises from the object of attachment and hatred, the maker of attachment and hatred is the mind. The mind has no holder. The ego-ghost is liberated in its own place, and the ego-ghost, the secret enemy, is slain. The chapter on slaying the three secret enemies, the fourth. Thus, after slaying the three enemies, the four fearsome maras are destroyed. The body is visualized as the deity of great compassion. Since the deity has no aging or decay, the yogi's body has no sickness, no aging or decay, therefore the mara of the aggregates is destroyed. Appearances are seen as the nature of the deity of great compassion. They appear like dreams and illusions, but are seen as having no inherent nature. Since there is no attachment or clinging to them, the mara of the son of the gods is destroyed. Knowing that parents, children, relatives, friends, possessions, and utensils are illusory appearances, attachment is cut off. Knowing that enemies are delusions of the mind, hatred is pacified, and compassion arises, therefore the mara of the afflictions is destroyed. Since confidence in the unborn and undying nature of the mind is gained, there is no fear of being born in the three realms of samsara. Since awareness has taken firm ground in the dharmakaya, the mara of death is destroyed. The chapter on destroying the four fearsome maras, the fifth. Thus, severing the cliff of the six realms of beings, slaying the three secret enemies, destroying the fearsome maras.

Four Severances. (Sever the coarse rope of samsara.) At that time, although the yogi's body is human, his mind is Buddha. Therefore, this Dharma of Great Compassion is superior to other Dharmas, because other views have the desire for sectarian bias. The view of Great Compassion has no sectarian constraints, and is naturally liberated without partiality, possessing the key points of the view, and is superior to other views. The practice of Great Compassion is superior to others, because other practices have the effort of shamatha-vipassana and post-meditation practice. The practice of Great Compassion, emptiness and clarity arise naturally and abide in oneself, without the constraints of experience and signs. There is no object of meditation and meditator, and it is naturally liberated, possessing the key points of practice, and is superior to others. The conduct of Great Compassion is superior to others, because other conducts have the effort of acceptance and rejection. The conduct of Great Compassion has no obstruction of action, and acts spontaneously, so that the appearances of circumstances, happiness and suffering, are naturally liberated, possessing the key points of conduct, and is superior to other conducts. The fruit of Great Compassion is superior to others, because other fruits have something to be accomplished by desiring Buddhahood separately. The fruit of Great Compassion, if one recognizes one's own mind, the fruit is Buddhahood, and since the mind has no arising or ceasing, it is originally the Dharmakaya, the fruit is superior to others. The chapter on the four superiorities of view, practice, conduct, and fruit is the sixth chapter. The samaya of Great Compassion is superior to others, because others have the effort of guarding the boundaries of samaya. Great Compassion has no boundaries to guard the samaya, in the originally guarded, originally pure, vastness, in the vast clarity and purity of one's own mind, there are no boundaries to guard the samaya, the samaya is superior to others. The empowerment of Great Compassion is superior to others, because others have the desire for the one who empowers, the one who is empowered, and the one who receives the empowerment. The empowerment of Great Compassion is the empowerment of the king of wisdom to obtain self-mastery, the original great empowerment is originally empowered, the empowerment is superior to others. The activity of Great Compassion is superior to others, because others have the desire for the four activities of pacifying, increasing, magnetizing, and subjugating.
