In the language of India: Śrīlokadīpanāmatantrarāja. In Tibetan: The King of Tantras, called "Glorious Illuminator of the World." Homage to the Glorious Vajrakumāra! Thus have I heard. Once, the Tathāgata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Awakened Buddha, the possessor of all-knowing wisdom, resided in the presence of the Wrathful King, Glorious Kīlaya, together with the wrathful deities of the Vajra Heruka lineage, the wrathful mothers of the Vajra Krodhi lineage, the wrathful deities of adornment such as Hūṃ-maker, their mothers, the male and female Pramentas, the gatekeepers, the eight Gaurīs, the eight Siddhas, the powerful mothers, Vajrapāṇi, Mañjuśrī, Avalokiteśvara, and so forth, the Bodhisattvas of fruition, and also the gods, nāgas, garuḍas, kinnaras, and so forth who abide on the earth and the path, the eight classes of gods and demons, the Bodhisattvas of the retinue, the inconceivable abode of wrathful deities, the inconceivable palace of the vast Bhaga charnel ground, in the place made of the charnel ground, together with the close retinue. Then, fierce predators such as tigers, dogs, and jackals, and many birds of the charnel ground such as eagles and vultures also gathered. They will also gather. Having entered into samādhi of body, speech, and mind, he slept. Then, the retinue asked: O Emaho! The teacher like a Buddha, is not elsewhere, the one who is already awakened dwells manifestly. Please show the blessing of wonders. For the sake of generating bodhicitta, establish the aspiration in the causal state. Having accomplished the benefit with the four actions, the body of the accumulation of merit will also arise. E ba~ṃ māyā. From that, from the profound wisdom of the mind, the great Kīlaya of limitless bodies such as head, hands, and feet appeared. Then, he instructed the Lord of Secrets through the door of the mind, he spoke to Avalokiteśvara through the door of speech, he gazed upon Mañjuśrī through the door of the body. Furthermore, he also gazed upon all the retinue, and he also smiled. Light also arose from the raw elephant hide. Likewise,

When light arose from Gaga Shambu and other places, all the retinues rejoiced. Then, the Bodhisattva, Lord of Secrets, asked: "All the Tathagatas do not smile without a reason, nor do they look, nor do they laugh. O Bhagavan, what is the cause? What is the result? What is the condition? Please, King of Wrathful Ones, speak! Please, Sugata, speak!" After this request, the Bhagavan, the glorious King of Kilaya, said: "Listen when the time comes! I will explain to all the retinues and to you as well, for the sake of the future. For example, when a Buddha appears in the world, there is a need for a cause, a need for a condition, and a need for a result. For example, when the Udumbara flower grows in the great ocean, there is also a need for a cause, a need for a condition, and a need for a result. For example, when a Chakravartin king appears in the world, there is also a need for a cause, a need for a condition, and a need for a result. For example, when crops and the essence of grains grow in the world, there is also a need for a cause, a need for a condition, and a need for a result. Likewise, my smiling also has a cause; it is not without a cause, not without a condition, and not without a result." Thus he taught. Then, the Lord of Secrets again asked: "O Bhagavan, what is the cause for the appearance of a Buddha in the world? Likewise, what is the cause for the appearance of the Udumbara flower? What is the cause for the appearance of a Chakravartin? Likewise, what is the cause for the appearance of crops and fruits?" When he asked this, the Bhagavan said: "What is the cause for sentient beings to become Buddhas in the world? What is the condition? What is the result? When a teacher appears in the world, there is a cause for the appearance of the Udumbara flower, there is a condition, and there is a result. When there is farming by farmers in the world, there is a cause for the growth of crops and the essence of fruits, there is a condition, and there is a result." After saying this, he looked at all the retinues. From the tantra that illuminates the world, which is the secret of the body, speech, and mind of all the Tathagatas, the first chapter is the introduction. Then, the Bhagavan spoke this verse: The world.
