In the language of India: Sugata Samudaya Mantra Tantra Uttarottara Nama. In the Tibetan language: The Condensed Mantra Tantra of the Sugatas, called "The Latter of the Latter." Homage to the Bhagavan, Glorious Samantabhadra Heruka! Thus have I heard at one time. In the palace of the Dharmadhatu of Akanishta, the Bhagavan, Glorious Samantabhadra Heruka, was surrounded by a retinue of Wrathful Ones and Wrathful Mothers, and Vidyadharas. At that time, the Vidyadharas, such as Vajradharma, circumambulated him a thousand times and requested: Ema, Great Glorious Lord! For the sake of future yogis who will practice, in order to obtain the siddhi of mantra, please explain the reality of mantra. After this request, the Bhagavan, Great Glorious Lord, spoke: For the benefit of future yogis, it is excellent that you ask about the meaning of mantra. The attainment of meaning-accomplishment and supreme accomplishment is achieved through the recitation of mantra. Furthermore, there are eight methods of accomplishment: the accomplishment of Great Supreme Qualities, the accomplishment of True Mind, the accomplishment of Manjushri's Body, the accomplishment of Padma's Speech, the accomplishment of Phurba's Activity, the accomplishment of Mamo Cursing, the accomplishment of Worldly Offering and Praise, and the accomplishment of Fierce Curse Mantra. Duṣṭān Hūṃ Phaṭ. The ten syllables of the secret mantra are said to be the essence of worldly offerings and praises. Āḥ Hūṃ Vajra Sarva Duṣṭān Hūṃ Phaṭ. The eight syllables of the secret mantra are said to be the essence of fierce curses. All the secret tantras of the command, when collected, are condensed into eight attainments. This definitive proof of the mantra resides in the position of the king of methods. Whatever yogi possesses this, the accomplishment of the mantra will naturally arise in oneself. The wish-fulfilling jewel is found without searching. There is no doubt about the actions to be done. Whatever yogi does not possess this, those who rely on only a few aspects, without realizing the suchness of the mantra, are confused about all the actions to be done. Thus it is said. The chapter that reveals the very nature of the mantra is the first. Then, the vidyādharas asked: Great Lord of the Mandala, skilled in means, from the letters of means and wisdom, how are the syllables of the mantra calculated, or how are the letters collected? Having heard that request, the Great Lord of the Mandala replied: Listen, great assembly of the gathered ones, from the unborn nature, the manifestation of the miraculous birth is the letters of means and wisdom. Means is the nature of the vajra, and wisdom is the nature of the lotus. Because of the non-duality of means and wisdom, the sound of the mantra arises in various ways. Its form is explained as follows: ka kha ga gha nga, ca cha ja jha nya, ṭa ṭha ḍa ḍha ṇa, ta tha da dha na, pa pha ba bha ma, ya ra la wa, sha sha sa ha ksha, these that arise from the eight places of sound are the letters of the means vajra, they are the eight categories. a ā, i ī, u ū, ṛ ṝ, ḷ ḹ, e ai, o au, aṃ aḥ, combined with the eight categories, these sixteen vowel letters are the letters of the wisdom lotus.
